I honestly didn't post this to make myself feel good or get an ego boost, but I do appreciate what has been said.

I am not perfect, and I know I have made mistakes. I know I tend to err on the side of caution and come off as heavy handed, but as I said, anything I have done has always been because I felt it needed to be done for the good of the board.

Thanks for the kind messages of support though.
    Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

      This makes me MAD.

I have been on CS.com for a while now, and occasionally make an appearance here in fratching as well.

In my time in these forums, it's become obvious to anyone with an intellect higher than that of a pet rock that I can be a bit opinionated, a bit obnoxious, and sometimes, a bit of an asshole. I speak my mind, and I am about as subtle as a jackhammer. A lot of people find me amusing, but there are certainly people who think ill of me, who find me to be an irritating, crass, overbearing jerk. I don't make apologies for my comments, diatribes, rants, or opinions, and sometimes even to my friends I can be a bit much.

With an attitude like this, it should be no surprise to anyone that I have had occasions when a mod warned me, gave me an infraction, or had a "talking to" with me. Sometimes I agreed with what I was told, and sometimes I did not necessarily see eye to eye with it. Nor did I always agree with the moderators' rulings concerning my posts or those of others, and would sometimes express my disagreement to said mods. This, of course, included Ree.

Ms. Ree, using an unscientific method I refer to as "guesstimating," I have determined that you probably gave me the most scoldings and talkings to of any mod. And as above, I did not always agree with your comments or rulings. To put it bluntly, there were times you and I butted heads. I sometimes informed you of my difference of opinion, but I usually did so privately, and always attempted to do so politely and respectfully, albeit at times a bit, shall we say, vigorously. Because that is the way I was raised: to be respectful, courteous. and polite, even in your disagreements. ESPECIALLY in your disagreements.

Anyone who would have the classlessness to send you hate mail, accuse you of abusing your power, or whatever other bullshit you have received while performing your duties, needs to stop, take a breath, bend over, put their hands between their legs, reach up, and pull their heads out of their fucking asses. After all, there are appropriate ways to express your disagreements. And this ain't it!

Seriously, kids, this is a forum where we come to talk and vent about people being douchebags to us at our jobs....and you have the nerve and utter audacity (not to mention lack of grace) to act like douchebags to a long-time member who is doing the job they were asked to do? Are you out of your minds? This behavior is no better than the dickheads, douchewaffles, fucktrumpets, ass clowns, and entitlement whores we deal with at our respective jobs. I would like to think that the collection of people on this of all boards would be better than that.

      Apparently I would be wrong.

Ree, I am not going to tell you to stay on as a mod or to quit. There are pros and cons for you with each course of action, and only you can determine which one is right for you. I will ask that you consider this decision carefully, and that once you have, that you take the course that you think will make you the happiest, either way. No one should have to put up with the bullshit craptastic behavior that you have described being directed your way, and if you felt it was best for you to put an end to it by resigning, I would support you in that decision. Likewise, if you decided to stay on and ignore the pettiness and foolishness of those behaving like spoiled cranky toddlers who have been told that they do have to follow SOME rules, I would support that decision as well. YOU do what is best for YOU, milady.

And to you disrespectful, arrogant, egotistical, impudent, lameass turds who went off on a mod, Ree or anyone else, because they were doing the job they are here to do, you assholes make me sick. And the next time you vent on these boards about entitlement whores and sucktastic bastards, take a look in the mirror. Because those people you are venting about are no different than that person staring back at you from the other side of the looking glass.

      That's right...YOU people are the SC's.

You rock Jester, and I'd have your children if 1: Ya liked the Plaidman in that way and 2: Babies could be born that way.

Since nether is an option, it's just manlove!

And love you too Ree. Don't let those jerks get ya down.

          Yep. I'm here.

So clearly I thought it was important.

I've been thinking. Really, to avoid being hurt by stuff like this, you just kind of have to forget that there are real people behind the screen names and the silly avatars and even the sometimes nasty, abusive words that come at you.

But the reason you are hurt is because you can't forget about the humanity behind each and every poster. That's why you are a good moderator. That's why you're, as Lace so perfectly put it, the den mother.

Any mod that can just pretend every screen name is just that...a bunch of pixels with no real people behind them...that is a mod that needs to hang it up because he will be a lousy mod.

The very thing that makes you a good mod is what makes you vulnerable.

And people who think it's fun or satisfying to use that vulnerabilty against you needs to take a good long look at themselves and consider why they are the way they are.

Jester's right: those people suck. And they have some kind of nerve coming over here, and over there, bitching about how other people suck when they're exactly the same sort of sucky.

I hope you don't quit. You have way more right to be here then they do. But I'm not going to tell you to stay when it will not be good for you to do so. I want you to be in the best place for you.

Being a mod is hard work, and a lot of people do not think it is. If I had a nickle for every time I was told by somebody they could do it better then me, I could buy and sell Bill Gates. Nazi is the word used most often about me as a Moderator..and I am one of the softest most open minded Moderators I know.

You are not always going to make the popular decision, you are not always going to make the right decision. We're human after all. The hate mail can be a heck of a hard thing to receive, and you might even question yourself. "Did I handle it right?", etc. Things can get tough. Here is what to keep in mind however.

Basically you are in a service like 'job'. You know how people can be treated in those type of jobs. It takes a lot of patience, it takes a lot of willpower, and it takes a lot of booze..I mean um .... good humor..yeah that is what I meant.

How many times in the service industry have things like "It can't be that hard..blarghle", or "You're not doing it right, argleblargh!" been heard?

I think you are stronger then that, and that you know that for the most part you are doing a great job. I won't say always, because hey .. how would I know? . However, you are human. It hurts when people say bad things about you. Nothing wrong with that, and in fact when it DOESN'T bother a person is when I become a bit worried.

Here is the question you have to ask yourself. Even IF you did make a mistake (not saying you did, just saying IF), is it worth giving up everything for? Most people I know say you are a great Moderator. I personally think you are much better being one then I am. You can't please everybody, nor can you make everybody happy. Its a volunteer job, and like I said..it can be considered something like a CSM..those with a spine can catch a lot of grief.

Edit : That is why at any time if I am being a Douche or even getting close to breaking a rule, that I always ask the Moderators to let me know quick. I can get heated, and I am very opinionated. hehe.

One of the fun things about being a Mod is that half the private messages are "You are an evil Nazi.." type messages, the other half are "You are too soft, weak, and let people get away with too much." FUN!! (Not)

OMG Godwin's Law! XD I've been called a Nazi before while just doing my job; I even had one noob call me Hitler. I just replied and said, "I'd prefer the tag of Stalin, actually," and got no reply, and no more trouble from that noob, either.

Jester; you rock. If it were only possible and there wasn't an ocean between us, I would high five you for that speech. ^^

Nonono Plaid! You should have added Nero. The Emperor who supposedly fiddled while Rome burned.

Shrug - just search for 'moderators' as it's titled 'nazi moderators' or search similarly.

I have no doubt that any child of mine would be the most awesome child around.

Doesn't change the fact that I don't want to have children. With you or anyone else
