The moment we stop convicting innocent people, I'll totally get behind indentured servitude for people in prison.

I don't know if I'd be behind enslaving the worst of the worst prisoners, but with the sheer incarceration numbers in the States, I'm more disturbed with people who would suggest doing this now.

We have the highest incarceration rate in the world with more and more nonviolent, victimless 'crimes' earning you time behind bars with actual violent criminals. On top of that, our citizenry seems to have zero issues electing even more 'tough on crime' politicians to increase that number. It boggles the mind.

on the working your time issue:
work an 8 or 12 hour day, whatever the state/country/prison decide, get a day taken off your time, ie work 8 days sweeping roads, get out 8 days sooner.

on sexual harrasment at work, one guy I work with is seemingly bullet proof, perhaps its how people act back in Jamacia and perhaps those he talks to don't mind or the fact that they don't know they could report him if they did feel uncomfortable.
one year we had an equality and diversity hours training, two sisters worked in the office bit, the one whom eventually left for reasons unknown, said as an example that she didn't like it when he tried to take her hand and call her baby, to which he replied and I kid you not
"perhaps I should kiss you" and the woman running the course didn't even pick up on the fact. she had said that you could be offended even if it was something being said to someone else, but she ignored a good example of what not to say.
I ignored her for most of the session after that

recently he, one of the new girls and eventualy her boyfriend were in the office and even with the door closed I could hear him yell
"I don't need your woman I have my own!" I'm guessing he said something like "hey baby bla bla bla" perhaps his usual saussage joke as we work in the food industry and do have saussages come up and she might have said it to the boyfriend more than the office and he took it up with them.
Most of the women I knew oop norf would have kneed him in the groin long ago if he even looked at them funny
