No snow

I love the snow. I like when it's actually cold out. I only wish that Vancouver actually got snow aside from the half a foot (maybe), that only washes away a day later because of the rain. After looking at pictures from my hometown, I just miss actually having snow. Sure some parts of it suck, but frankly, I like being able to step outside and not be soaked to the bone after 2 minutes. I get colder here because my feet end up getting wet constantly, and no matter how many layers you have on it gives you a chill that's really hard to make go away. I can deal with -20 weather when it's dry cold.

I think I may just be a bit homesick after seeing all the pictures people are posting from the massive snowfall in my hometown. *pouts* It actually looks like Christmas there.

Today was the first time I can remember being glad that we didn't get snow that was forecast. We almost never get more than about an inch anyway, and often get none at all in a whole winter, but today was finals (along with tomorrow) and either a school closure or accident delays on the way in would have been more nuisance than the half day of beauty would have been worth. Besides, snow is a lot more fun when you cane come in to a nice warm house, and my furnace is still on vacation. "Soon and very soon..."

Send it this way! Though, if less than half a foot practically shuts down the city...I don't even want to know what would happen with 22 inches! haha. Vancouver tends to get bad wind storms in the winter, I don't know if that will happen this year, I hope not, those are really no fun. (power outages, risk of trees falling down etc.)

:P I laugh at people here who think that -1 is cold, that's spring weather! I don't think I've ever acclimatized to living in this area of BC, where people wear parkas in 10 degree weather.

I like snow in moderation. I dig the surrealness of it if that makes sense.

That's where my love for winter ends though.

I HATE the ice that makes driving even more dangerous and unpredictable.

I HATE the brisk temperatures.

And I HATE having to spend 10 minutes getting snow and frost off my car just so I can see. (stupid defroster takes forever).

I can understand missing the snow as I've had winters where I got no snow that didn't feel the same, but that doesn't mean winter is without it's pains.

Well of course, there are parts I dislike about having snow. I grew up somewhere that has really cold snowy winters, trust me I know. But a little would be nice, you know?

I have a bit of a problem with the people who complain about the snow every year. We get snow every year here, and if you really HATE the snow so much, move somewhere else.

Every year there's a learning curve as people remember how to drive in the snow again as well.

I would love for England to not collectively run around like a headless chicken shouting, "Help, help, it snowed omg we're all gonna dieeee!" whenever it snows. It drives me up the wall when all the public services like trains and buses shut down, when the roads stay uncleared and ungritted, when supermarkets and stores run out of bread and milk cuz the selfish panic buyers rush out and buy fifty pints of milk and fifty loaves of bread when it snows.

I'll complain about the snow all I farking please, I thank you, until I can find a job or get enough money saved to move further south, I am stuck here. I was never supposed to live here. And here I've been my entire life.

It gets really old, having to wake up earlier than usual and leave earlier and to wind yourself and practically get hypothermia for shoveling over an hour, getting the nearly two feet of snow and all the drifts and whatever the plows threw at your car off of it, and freezing your ass off in the following days after the storm when the temps plummet to well below zero, then warm back up just to dump more snow, then freeze all over again.

Here snow is possible but not guaranteed. Last year we had one day of snow that shut down traffic and caused me to not get home for 3 and 1/2 hours. Not fun. The year before I was stranded at home for a week cause the buses would not run. This year so far it's been relatively snow free..We had one day where it snowed a little and was colder than billy hell for a bit...then yesterday and the day before it got up to 60 degrees...

I just never know what it's going to do from winter to winter. And when it does snow it's vicious cause it's always covered with ice. And forget driving on the shit I gotta walk in it. And not break my neck

It's been raining so much around this area and on the island that there is bad flooding in some places, landslides etc. When I talk about the rain here it's usually not just a light drizzle, it's a full on downpour for days at a time. I'd prefer -20 temperatures and snow to that. People seem to have issues driving in either type of weather, and you'd think they'd be used to the rain at least.

Snow, of more than a sprinkle ends up being the TOP story on the news. I find that a little ridiculous. It's not that I want mountains of snow, though it wouldn't bother me if the city could still run, but some would be nice. It is winter.
