No snow

We've recently had a couple of snowfalls here in Ohio. It's just been a few inches, though. We haven't gotten as much as the Upper Midwest has, but it's still enough to be annoying. What's bad is that the temps have been in the teens or low twenties, and last night it got down to the single digits. Because of that, the slush left on the roads isn't melting.

So far, we've had a very unseasonably cold December. The cold doesn't bother me too much, though the teens and single digit stuff is getting old. I am getting a little annoyed at the snow, though. I don't like having to walk really carefully on the parking lot at work to avoid slipping on a patch of ice. I also don't like getting all that salt all over my car.

It's odd, because it seems like just last week I was grumbling about it being too hot outside (I don't like summer heat, either).

We surprisingly haven't gotten a ton of snow where I live, which is unusual. Bitter cold temperatures, though, which are getting really old. The past couple of days have gotten around -20 when the wind chill was factored in. Just scraping ice off my car windows made my fingertips hurt, even with my nice gloves on.

I hate the winter. I've lived almost my entire life in an area that gets some heavy snow and harsh winters, and I've hated it for years. My husband and I moved about 300 miles away from it for a little bit earlier this year, but then were brought back when he got a temporary full-time job. Once his contract is up, we're planning on leaving and never coming back. We are both miserable in the winter. We never go outside because we hate the snow. Neither of us are cut out for this crap.

it's easy to feel sympathy for residents in Alaska, Colorado, and South Dakota. But don't forget the fine citizens of Madison Wisconsin. Winter temperatures regularly drop lower than -30ºF, and temps are below freezing an average of 160 days per year.

Exactly. Of course it's colder in Wisconsin. But lows in the single digits and highs in the 20's and 30's is cold for Kansas this time of year. And the complete lack of snow is unusual.

Oh, I wouldn't go around saying I have it worse than others, just because their winters aren't as cold or as snowy. My beef is people who want snow and cold or the people like on the weather channel who were practically mocking us up north by pretending to ski up and down the sidewalk or throw cotton around like it was snow. I wanted to throw the remote at the tv.

60? i'm unhappy below 70. that's why i love my semi-arid region. looks like we're in for a nice sunny green christmas with highs near 70, if the 10-day forecast can be believed.

btw i was mowing my lawn yesterday in shorts and a tshirt. just sayin'

I think my main issue is I don't really want a green Christmas, and I hate the rain. Absolutely hate it. It rained during the spring and summer in my hometown but the difference there is it takes a quarter of the time to get anywhere, and usually you're driving rather than trying to take 4 buses and a boat somewhere, and it would stop raining every now and then. I'd rather get somewhere and be a bit cold but dry, rather than freezing and soaking wet, you just never get warm once your feet get wet, and boots don't always help (especially when you're like me and your calves just don't fit into rain boots, or most other boots)

LOL...that's exactly what I was thinking.

It regularly gets to about -55 in the city where my in-laws live, so they joke when I complain about it getting down to -10 here. But I won't be wandering about in short-sleeves and opening windows in either temperature. I'm staying indoors. The end result is the same. Cold is cold, and it sucks.

It may not be as cold here as other places, but I have no choice but to be out in this 'not cold' sometimes hours on end for my job. It's cold enough thanks

Snow's gone, but we've still got some super icy pavements! Just walking down the street carries a risk of slipping over and breaking your neck. ^^ Oh snow, how your afters suck.

Well I got my snow, my boyfriend's mom bought us tickets to come home for a few days for Christmas.

I enjoy the cold here, it's refreshing.
