I've been job hunting the past couple of months, looking for a graphic design position. I've noticed something with certain companies, or individuals, they will post something stating they are looking for a graphic designer, then the job description is that of a web designer. These are two. different. fields. Yes I'm aware that a lot of graphic designers also do web design, and I'm not really referring to the job posts that want graphic/web designers, because they are upfront in the title what they want. Now I can do some html, but that's about it, programming and web design are things I'm not fully comfortable with, and therefore I'm not putting myself out there as someone who knows web, because I don't really. I'm teaching myself more, but that's an ongoing process.
It's just very annoying to click on a job posting that says they are hiring a jr. graphic designer when they are really looking for a web designer, as in no print work at all, just web. I get that people not in the field might not understand that there is a difference, but people that are hiring really should know these things.
Maybe I'm just getting frustrated with job hunting...well at least I've had several interviews in the past couple of weeks, that's a good sign. Better than no calls at all.
