*rather frustrated because this kind of thing NEVER seems to come up when I'm doing okay financially, ONLY when I'm having problems*

My phone hadn't been working properly for some time, but my financial situation being what it is, I was hoping to wait until I'd moved back into my mom's house before getting a new one. No such luck, however - last night it finally died, so it looks like I get to add buying a new phone into my shopping this Friday. (I don't have a land-line phone anymore, otherwise it wouldn't be such a problem)

So.......I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be able to upgrade with my current service provider, because my credit's not at the point where I can get an account elsewhere without being charged a security deposit.

You might want to look into what it would take to get a land line in for cheap. There are some financial aid situations that exist so that people won't be completely without service, since it is considered a form of utility.

Unfortunately, I make too much to qualify for utility assistance programs......at least, the one which Qwest (which WAS my land-line provider) has set up. Plus, I'm moving back in with my mom shortly, so it would be kind of a waste to get a land-line set up. I do appreciate the suggestion, though!
