Not the articles or bloggers, but the commentors. Click on anything, especially about homosexuality (bullying, poll results, DADT, Elton John's new son!) and it's like falling into a Tea Party party. Page after page of empty-headed bigotry and Bible-thumping. Not sensible Christians or Catholics with functional brains, just twits who believe whatever some hateful person on a pulpit spews at them.

I know, I know, don't bother reading them if it'll just piss me off.

It's not just Yahoo news--look at the comments on any video on Youtube, any automotive forum (especially one where the "import" crowd hangs out), most AOL forums and you'll see all sorts of things. Namely, about 500 pages of various attempts at insults, people calling each other "fags," and other crap like that

Yeah, just any popular website that has comments enabled has it's share of trolls and bigots. You got the conspiracy theorists, the fundies, the racists, the trolls, and those who are just assholes. They do annoy me though. Especially those idiots who say that the victim of a crime deserved it because they were black/asian/hispanic/arab/female/overweight/gay or any other thing they hate. It's hard to tell if they're trolling or if they really do believe the shit they spew.

I think enough of them believe it for long enough.

It's also the Internet. People don't necessarily get the same feeling of causing genuine hurt to another person. It's just words. You can't hurt words, can you?

Then people say we moderate too much on CS.com.
