I actually like reading Rolling Stone from time to time, but their music reviews annoy me.
First, they're incredibly misleading. They use nice fun buzzwords that often have nothing to do with the actual music. I read one about Randy Newman that if I didn't know who he was I'd think "This must be a death metal band." There's also a really generic sound they have to the wording. It's always shit like "The RAGING LYRICS and INCENDIARY RIFFS and SINISTER SOUNDS and AMAZINGLY DARK AND BLENDED PLETHORA OF ANGER AND SALVATION!"
"You'd swear just by listening to his voice that it was the dying sound of a thousand screaming demons reaching into your soul and extracting every possible bit of emotion. The deeply ingrained social and economic implications of the zeitgeist and rollpopollis of plebius douchebaggery becomes the sardonically inlaid vortex of cathartic and incendiary childlike voice that lives within us all!"
Oh great, I never realized that about Eminem.
