  • Ea And Nin-fucking-tendo!

REHASHES OF OLD SHIT GAMES THAT NOBODY LIKED IN THE FIRST PLACE, SAME CHARACTERS MILKED TO DEATH, AND GOBBLING UP EVERY PUBLISHER AND DEVELOPER IN SIGHT, THEREFORE, DESTROYING THE ENTIRE FUCKING INDUSTRY WITH THEIR HALF-ASSED CRAP!!!

FUCK! I HATE EVERY LAST FUCKING ONE OF THEM!

Long, cuss filled rant aside, Nintendo has basically become the Disney of the game industry. they keep recycling everything to death and wont get the balls to put a half decent title out. The best that they had going for them was Manhunt 2 and they recalled that!!! They dont appeal to a wide enough audience and im personally sick of soiling my hands with their overly happy, rehashed, half-assed kiddie games every fucking time a 10 year old brat wants a fucking game!!!
    GET A FUCKING CLUE POTATOMATO!

AND DONT EVEN START WITH ME ON ELECTRONIC (F)ARTS!
Same yearly sports titles, overworked/underpaid/FUCKING SPOILED, staff. And once again...
HALF ASSED GAMES!!! AND PAYING FOR EXTRA WEAPONS IN A GAME!? WHAT THE FUCK!?!?!?
NICE TRY WITH BATTLEFIELD BAD COMPANY JAGGOFFS!!!

EA also made Skate, which revitalized the extreme/outdoor sports genre, and made supported Harmonix in the production of Rock Band.

As for Nintendo, which recycled characters are we talking about here, Mario? The best-selling franchise name in video game history? Of course, and everyone agrees that Nintendo doesn't appeal to a wide-enough audience, because, of course having the best selling systems out there in both the Nintendo DS and the Wii, mean absolutely nothing, and of course reaching out to an entire demographic previously unreachable (the casual gamer), and taking interactive console gaming to another level, mean absolutely nothing.

I see you as nothing but a fanboy. As you mentioned no infraction against Microsoft, who I would think would be a bigger fish to fry, in my opinion, as they bought Rare, a once prosperous and popular developer, and turned them into nothing, and who have continued to push their similar marketing scheme from PC's onto gamers, by accessorizing everything.

I see no bash on Sony either, who've all but anally violated their major fan-base by still having next-to-nothing of value in terms of RPGs OR exclusives on the PS3. They've said fuck it, as well.

Nintendo is making the money because they know/understand what people want, and I doubt that any company would make a profit listening to out-of-control fanboys(or girls) such as yourself, everytime they tried to do something different or making a game.

As for spoiled employees? I didn't know 8.50 an hour was spoiled, and that's what QA personnel make. QA being game testers, the guys who find the bugs and make sure fanboys like yourself are happy.

I understand your beef, I really do, but filling the post with a little more substance might help us out a bit.

I know some people who work in the game industry (for EA even) and I'd wager a lot of the reason crap games get released is that QA people are the lowest dregs in the industry. Most of them are wannabes and hangers-on who just want to brag they work for *Big Game Company* but don't want the hard work of actually coming up with a game idea.

Also, EA getting exclusive rights with sports leagues for their games sucks for gamers. EA Sports franchises were starting to fall behind the competition so instead of improving the games they just dropped fat stacks of cash to make sure only their games could have real teams and players. It's a total dick move IMO.

Yes, the EA exclusivity rights-nfl license issue pissed me off too, because it allows them to force feed us shitty football games. However, I still think the OP's unfounded arguements have no substance. Until I hear his/her claims on the issue, I'm not touching this thread any further.

Only if the NFL brand logo is worth more to you than quality gameplay. If you don't care about the brand logo, support good-gameplay sports games that lack the logo.

If enough sports gamers are willing to do that, there'll be logo-less gameplay-high sports games. (I'm not a sports gamer, so I have no clue how many of those already exist.)

            I happen to love Nintendo.

I don't have hours and hours and hours like I used to when I was a kid. I like to be able to load up the Wii-sports and blow off steam for 20 mins.

I also LOVE my DS. Lots of great RPG AND casual games for me to poke around with. RPG for when I have some extra time (rare but it happens), and dick around games I can pick up and put down whenever.

I think Nintendo hit the nail on the head with their new systems. They certainly appeal to a wider bracket of people. Shit, my DAD and MOM play the Wii- it's hysterical! (I walked in on my Mom playing Link's Crossbow training, and telling me how she likes "shooting things") *lol*

As for EA- meh. I don't like football and golf games or any of that crap. But I DO like RockBand- which again, appeals to a wide variety of people. I sort of wish they didn't take over making the peripherals (cause the guitars are total shit that EA made) but, the game play is awesome, and nothing is funnier than watching your friend's mom try to pound out "Say it Ain't So" on drums! I think Harmonix was smart to pair up with a big name company to get more songs, better graphics and bigger gameplay. FUN!

Exactly. They make a good, solid fun gaming system that can be played both by more serious gamers and casual gamers alike.
I don't know a whole lot about sports titles since that's really not my cup of tea, but I have to say that I have fun with the system.
I also have fun with my 360, too. I'd have more fun with hubby's PS3 except I despise the controller with the power of 1,000 suns.

Seshat, to answer your remarks about the NFL license thing, awhile ago, it was two companies making NFL title games, 2k and EA, EA somehow figured out a deal with the NFL to get exclusive rights to the NFL names and logos and such.

For me, American football is a pastime, and when I want to play a football game, I want to play as Drew Brees, or Brett Favre, or Reggie BUsh (superstars), not someone who was made up, you know? It's just shitty that EA was allowed to do that, and 2k tried to make a game like you were talking about last year, and it faltered, because it didn't have the draw of the NFL logo. It's a revenue issue in some ways, and EA constantly buys up companies, not unlike microsoft, and puts them in their coffins. It's a shitty, shitty thing for a company to do, and had EA not made rock band and skate, I'd probably have boycotted them altogether.

The one big problem I will admit to with EA is the shitty peripherals they made for Rock Band. My BF ordered a guitar from them because of course, the one that came with the game broke (outside of the warranty period). This one is almost shittier than the original...

They obviously re-used parts, and while they seem to have corrected the issue with the strum bar, the "overdrive" tilt activator is still completely impossible to use!

                  >_<

He's frustrated, and it frustrates me, too.

I understand why they would re-use parts, too. But, I feel that it's dishonest to use parts from old guitars and sell them as brand new. They should make brand new ones, and if they want to recycle parts, market refurbished guitars at a lower price.

I looooove the game, though! I use the old style guitar, but apparently, when you play the last few songs on Expert, you pretty much need that bottom fret for the solos- which is only included on the new Rock Band guitar.

Such a great game. It makes me sad that the guitar malfunctions. It kinda ruins it, you know?

Ea is doing with Rock Band what ATT does with cell-phones. Refurbs. Fuck em, I use a guitar hero II guitar for rock band for the strum bar.

ATT only gives refurbs to people making warranty or insurance claims. When you a buy a new phone- it's new. If you want a refurb, you can buy a refurb- it's differentiated on their website.

EA does not differentiate between the two. But you can see the scratches on the casing on my BF's guitar.

He took the guitar that EA makes apart, and we now know why the "star power" tilt doesn't work...those fuckers really know NOTHING about engineering.

Red Octane's guitar, on the other hand, is top notch.

Actually, I don't know - that sort of thing has never been important to me.

But it sounds like brand (or name) is more important to the sports community than gameplay. So you're getting what you're telling the companies you want.

It's just shitty that EA was allowed to do that,
                        Who should have stopped them?
