Watch it! As a pansy, I object to the implication that I would be caught dead wearing skinny jeans.
Yeah. Skinnies on guys say more, "I get beat up by pansies."

Except skinny jeans and jeggings - nothing can make either of those attractive, ever.
I don't understand why skinny jeans are considered unattractive. I don't expect anyone to make a good argument to convince me, since aesthetics are subjective. I'm just amazed at the sheer unanimity of hatred for them.
I think skinny jeans on women with nice legs look good. I've seen some larger women pull them off too, especially with a long flowing tunic shirt and tall boots.
I'm personally not fond of men in skinny jeans, but I know lots of women who think it's cute. Besides, hipsters in skinnies aren't aiming to attract everyone. They aren't looking at me - a 30-something bourgeoisie chick who hadn't heard of Pitchfork until last week - as attractive either.
I just don't understand the level of hatred being expressed for other people's clothes. I tend to look at many of these trends and think, "That look's not for me. But obviously others like it!"
Yeah, I'm also a little shocked at some of the animosity towards some of these trends. The only one I get irked at is the skinny jean trend, because like I said, I prefer my jeans to have a little bit of room in them (but once again, not an excessive amount of room). This trend has made it harder for me to find jeans that fit the way I like them to. However, that's still not too much of a problem since I only wear jeans 2-3 times per week.
I said earlier that I didn't like Uggs, but they do look nice under some circumstances. Some women look very nice in those high heeled boots that are fashionable right now.

When I spot someone in skinny jeans that doesn't look like shit, I'll revise my opinion, but of the many, many people I've seen sporting them, they've all looked like utter crap. Models don't count.

My only problem that I have with pants is that none of them "sit at waist". Everything sits below natural waist. *le sigh* I hate that. And the shirts I seem to find are not long enough to go over the tops of the pants so my stomach hangs out and it makes me look fatter than I actually am.

This town is overrun with hipsters, to the point where you can't go into stores downtown without being overwhelmed by the smell of BO and weed. They're arrogant, annoying, and most of the ones here are from nearby Johnson County, a wealthy suburb of KC. They "rage against the machine" and pay for it with Mumsy and Dadsy's American Express card. I loathe them and everything associated with them. Like "ironic" vintage tees, skinny jeans, tunics, and Chucks.
In terms of hating certain plus-sized fashion trends - because people plunk down cash for gaudy, tacky, old-lady-looking clothes, fashion designers crank out more and more of that stuff, making it really hard to find things that I like, that fit, and that I can afford.
Why, exactly? I tend to wear sandals earlier and later than most people because I am a horrific exothermic man creature. I'm not cold yet. Don't blame me because you're cold already. ;p
Because they're not weather appropriate most of the year here. I've seen girls wearing sandals with their jeans in FEBRUARY. You know, one of the COLDEST months.
If it's not warm enough for a good chunk of people to be comfortable outside in shorts, then it's not warm enough for sandals yet.
I've been riding my bike to work (about 20 minutes each way) except when road conditions aren't good enough (which isn't very often). I've been out in the cold all winter long. Even though I've become accustomed to it and it doesn't feel that cold to me anymore, I am still well aware of the effects of the cold on my body. Heat sucks out of your extremeties pretty quickly; if it's at or below freezing (which is pretty must has been until the past week), my fingers will start to go numb before the end even though I wear thick gloves.
I'll kick and scream and hate skinnies as much as I want, when they have jeopardized my shopping experiences in every way. It's damn near impossible to find flares or even bootleg jeans anymore.

Honestly, that's a pretty lame reason.
It's like your mom yelling at you to put a sweater on or take your jacket off because she's too cold or too hot.

THIS! Seriously, stores have maybe, just maybe, part of one rack that has anything but skinny jeans on it, and usually those are too big or too small or just ugly.
As far as I can tell, there are no super low rise jeans that come in non-skinny. I have a very short hip-line and very short waist. Low rise jeans come up too high on me, and the best fitting pants I've owned in years are some super lows I managed to luck into. Now all the super lows are skinnies and it drives me nuts. Plus, as mentioned earlier, I want flares or bells or at the least boot cuts, and lately I can only find those online where I can't try anything on. >_<

If the wearer isn't bothered by the cold, it's appropriate. I did it all the time in college. Freshman year it wasn't too uncommon to catch me going from my dorm to the diner in a sleeveless t-shirt, gym shorts, and flip flops...with at least a half of a foot of snow. Didn't bother me none. Running to the student union across the street? I'm not wasting time putting socks on. Plus then it adds to my laundry. If the cold doesn't bother me at all, why waste my time with that?

I don't know if this counts as a trend, but WTF is up with plus sized stores only carrying clothing that looks like it's made for old ladies? Seriously, bigger girls want to look modern and nice too!
While I'm borderline plus-size (which in Ausland is around 16/18-26 for women and about 2XL onwards for men), I've had no problem seeing some nicer clothing for women-it depends on the store I guess. Kmart and Target down here DO have some OK stuff for plus-sized women.
The fashion trends I HATE:
-Fluoro. In general, fluoro. If it's a fluoro logo for instance, say fluro green on black, not so much a problem. But a bright fluoro orange top? Not so much.
-Micro-minis. Hate hate HATE them.
-Androgynous look: what's wrong with being feminine? you can still look pretty and kick butt you know
-Polka dots: Aside from the fact it looks too minnie mouse, it otherwise feels babyish or old-lady depending on the polka dot. In addition, one of the designs for our work shirts is polka dot and makes my boobs look huge!
-Obvious zippers on shirts-I find some great shirts and they all have HUGE obvious zippers on them. It just looks ugly.
-Ugg boots in PUBLIC-while I have ugg boots, they stay in the house, not out in public. (they're good for when I'm around home and I have to move my car or whatever though)
-Jean leggings-for the unfamiliar, they're basically leggings that are painted to look like jeans, right down to fake pockets and the spray-on button. And they look HORRIBLE. Unfortunately some girls at uni wear them
-Wedge boots: have a look at THIS to get an idea of what I'm talking about (the ones labelled "Lulu wedges" and "sasha wedge boot") fugly as sin and yet they're the hottest fashion trend. The alternate variation has the heel AND toe cut out. Uuuugly.....
-Paisley print: OK, it's alright if it's ONE item, i.e. a top or a skirt, but the rest needs to be PLAIN.

I have one skinny leg (the shorter left) and one fat fucker right (with the slightly clubbed foot) I do not want skinny trousers of any kind, or shorts, I'm hesitant on a Kilt as last time someone saw my legs without prior warning of em being weird I wasn't sure how I should or could explain it away to a total stranger.
"born that way" seemed to suffice in the end and nothing further was spoken of it, luckily my cow markings were not visible under UV light.
My main reason for hating skinnies is cuz of all the people who wear them round where I am and delude themselves into thinking they look good, when they don't. This is mainly emo boys and big girls; while I'm biggish myself, I would never dream of wearing a pair of low slung skinnies the way they do, with back fat and muffin tops bulging out all over the place. To my mind, skinnies are like spandex trousers; while there are people who can wear them, they're not a very good idea for anyone other than that rare group. I hope that spandex doesn't make a major comeback, seeing as other eighties gear has. O_o
I've never really understood why some big people think that shoehorning themselves into clothes that are one or two sizes too small is going to make them look better. Nothing looks worse than a big girl wearing low slung skinnies with a two sizes too small top. She'd look a lot better if she wore a pair of bootcut jeans with a well fitting top.
Oh yeah, and wearing sandals in winter isn't really a good idea. Not cuz of the cold, but if everyone else is wearing boots and one of them happens to land on your sandal clad foot... O_o
"Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."
