I use examples a lot when trying to explain stuff. Maybe it's not the best way, but I'm always saying "For example..."
And for some reason people aren't able to hear the "for example part...."
I could say, "For example, if Tim were to make a threatening statement like that, he'd be arrested..."
Then t hey say "I don't know anyone named Tim."
No no, don't bother trying to further the conversation. No no, get stuck on a moot point. That's the way to effectively facilitate communications! Good for you! Oh, and tell the doctor he needs to up your meds.
