All sorts of situations. People who interrupt an ongoing conversation. Me and Bill are talking about world of warcraft, it is not an appropriate time for John to just barge into the conversation with "hey did you guys see supernatural last night?" No. you wait until we are done talking. These are things people are supposed to learn when they are five years old.
Or when there's loud music. dude, I can't even hear myself fart. do not stand there with your chin wagging like a dumbass expecting that I can read lips. there is loud music and I cannot hear you.
And when I ask "what did you say?" don't move on to the next thing. REPEAT WHAT YOU JUST SAID. Then move on. "what did you say" means I didn't hear you, it does not mean "please continue".
And guess what - after the third time you've said my name and I haven't responded, it means I'M BUSY. I might be sleeping, I might be playing world of warcraft, I might be purposely ignoring you. Whatever the reason, it means the conversation you want to have isn't going to happen right now, and the sooner you get that through your skull the sooner I can finish what I'm doing and THEN we can talk. so you're just hurting yourself.
Emergency situations are exempt from this. Fire, bleeding, broken bones, or cops at the door. Family member having a heart attack. Those are emergencies. "I might forget this in the next 60 seconds so I'm going to tell you now!" is not an emergency.
