I often talk to myself to make sure I don't forget words, Like the word 'perspective'. I actually forgot that word once.

I talk to my novel characters all the time when I'm driving at work. Usually imagining I'm another character while I do so, and usually about boring ordinary things that wouldn't make it into the novel. I find it helps me get inside their heads, and gives me insight into how they interact with each other. I will also tend to translate whatever's going on in my life into something they might go through.

I talk to myself all the time, answer myself all the time, and argue with myself all the time. My standard response to anyone who makes fun of me for it: "It's the only way I can have an intelligent conversation given present company."

I am weird that way and proud of it because normal is boring. I often say that my family puts the "fun" in dysfunctional.

Talking to yourself as in thinking out loud is perfectly fine.
