Herd Mentality pertaining to Emos and Chuck Norris

I am starting to really dislike Chuck Norris facts. They're overused and starting to get incredibly old, but mostly I dislike them because the majority of people who are now a "fans" of Chuck Norris, have never even seen Walker Texas Ranger or even knew who he was before they heard that his tears can cure cancer. They just think he's cool because everyone else thinks he's cool because of some semi-funny jokes. For a brief period of time I was the victim of herd mentality. I became a "fan" of Chuck Norris, then I realized, I had no idea who he actually was, other than that he counted to infinity. Twice.

Emos. They are pretty much the most hated subculture around. Why? Really, why? I think because it has become cool to hate them so much. Punch and emo kid day, seriously? Why!? What the hell has that kid with an unoriginal haircut ever done to you? I don't care if some kid wants to wear black striped clothes and cover one eye with dyed hair, they're not bothering me. I never really knew about them until I started hearing of everyone complaining about them. Complaining over trivial things such as "They're all cutters," "Their music sucks," "Stupid hair covering one eye." I haven't had many, if at all any, encounters with emos, so I'm not too sure if all this complaining is even remotely warranted for. But I do know for sure it has become quite the trend to either be like them or hate them.

I also hate that so many people like Chuck Norris without knowing anything about him other than the internet memes, like his politics. He is very far right wing.



And I love emo boys. Mmm eyeliner.

Chuck Norris: I know who he is (Big fan of Bruce Lee too), I've used the jokes but I stopped when I was 18. The memes in general I don't really care about anymore. I hate sounding elitist but I knew what most of them were when they started becoming popular.

Emos: I will admit that I've bashed them, but then again I'm out of high school. There are some ridiculous things that I fail to see the appeal in, such as the tight pants and yes I think the music is bad.

As far as emos go, it's probably the annoyance generated by fairly privileged kids whining about how life hates them and why should they keep going, bllllaaaaaaaaahhhhh.

At least, that's what I dislike about the whole thing. Hipsters are annoying too, but in a different way.

Talking about internet memes, you know when one's gotten old when it's picked up by print media. Time printed an article on Garfield strips minus Garfield a few weeks ago. So rings the death knell on that ever being funny again....

I love emo kids, because they just don't realize how absurd they are. Teenagers in general all have that delightful mix of intense self-consciousness combined with a complete lack of self-awareness. God love 'em, they're all so ridiculous.

Plus, its so adorable when they pretend to be all dark and stuff. I just want to hug them.

Even Chuck himself thinks that those 'facts' are a bit "out there." Still, I find them amusing...mainly because I knew who he was long before they came out, and had seen quite a few of his flicks. However, the facts lists are getting old now. The best one ever has to be "Helen Keller's favorite color is Chuck Norris"

Well, I've tried to google and wiki the whole 'emo' thing, and it still doesn't help too much - possibly cos I don't relate any of the people I know and see as emo. And even if I did, I'd have to think to myself 'Oh great - another stereotypically created group who don't really think for themselves... being bagged by another stereotypically created group that don't really think for themselves...'. Thus.. emo would be no worse than glam, or pop, or Idol...(hang on - no, nothing gets worse than idol )

Chuck Norris? I dun get it!!!! yeah - I know who he is/was. I've seen TR (didn't do a whole lot for me). I've seen a few of his films. So I agree with Anriana... most don't even know who he is/was...other than the basics of being a martial arts dude. And I've got absolutely no idea of just how all those 'jokes' started up about him (even though I did make one up myself ..)

I love Chuck Norris! Yes, I've been known to use "facts" in my sig at cs.com. But I find them adorable. I loved to watch W:TR when it was still new and I watch the re-runs now too. (And I do watch a Bruce Lee movie or two if they're on and I still love Steven Segal).

As for emos? I don't know any emo kids (they don't necessarily hang out at Gaming Stores for some reason ). Therefore, I have no opinion on them.

Chuck norris facts:

Never realy was a fan of Chuck Norris, but I laughed at those facts the first time. The second time. Not the third time. The fourth, I hit my brother for over-using them. Still think Texas Ranger wasnt all that bad.

Emo:

Dont know if the whole "cos its in" thing is the reason hating emos is popular. I get it, but at least the way Ive been told, they are hated becouse they are attention whores. Doing stuff you cant realy ignore, like showing you their scarrs on their wrists, knowing what you think of it, but still keep on doing it. Just a way to get yer attention...

I liked his stuff when it first came out. And maybe the 2nd movie... after that, it all got so damn repetitive and predictable I tuned out...He's always a former seal, or something... and it must be so damn depressive for him losing all those wives to assassins 5 years earlier...

Normally, you'd be at least be able to say that those are the sort of movies that he gets put into, but when you start producing, writing and directing them yourself...????


Since we're on this topic (now )... what about Jet Li? Jackie Chan?

My problem with Emos, besides the crappy music, is that they all complain about how much life sucks, nobody likes them, blah blah blah, whine whine whine. What's wrong with this? The majority of them come from households that have at least enough money to get by. Tell me how living with a roof over your head sucks. Tell me how having parents who buy you a car, buy you clothes, pay your bills sucks. The majority of them have absolutely NOTHING to whine about.

Its just a teenager thing. The good news is that we all grew up, threw away our flannel jackets, and became normal, functioning adults.
