This actually reminds me of an episode of a show I saw earlier today.
There was a man in the show whose body was oh my god I want to drool the boy was fine.
He was wearing a pair of board shorts and looking very casual and sexy.
Then he took off the board shorts to reveal a swim suit cut in a style reminiscent of boxer-briefs. His body, which was healthy in good shape sexy, suddenly wasn't as attractive to look at.
It was funny because I still liked his body or so I told myself intellectually but that swimsuit made me pray for the board shorts.
I wonder if what bothers people isn't that "ugh that person is ugly" but is rather they are used to seeing the person using a certain style to accentuate the good and when the other person can't be bothered or as you said is having an off day doesn't look like they normally do the person is suddenly horrified with themselves for finding the person attractive.
It amuses me because I know I would have been telling Danny to please stick to wearing his sexy board shorts and not those ugly shorts some sales person told him was very in right now. Not "god cover that up I don't wanna see it"
