I know, that's largely fantasy, but still, if it happened would you think it was ok?
Okay couple of things here knowingly abusing a loophole is violating the spirit of the rules which to me is what matters.

"I didn't technically murder her she happened to walk under an anvil I 'accidentally' dropped"

So yes violating the spirit of the rules in my mind is a bad thing and makes the person in the wrong.

If someone were scouring a person's posts that means two things.

One that person is to be pitied for they are pathetic and have no life.

Two if you don't violate the rules in spirit or by the letter of the rules then that person will find nothing and it won't matter.

This is all good and well. But it needs to be consistent. If we're arguing that the spirit is more important, fine. But when I find a "spirit of the law" that benefits me, I expect it to be followed.

As for two, it's not about if there was anything wrong. If there was something wrong worth calling me for, it would've been seen. It's wrong to "look for reasons" to get someone in trouble. Again violating the spirit of the law.

Sort of like a story in the news I read once - some people put a rather condescending note in their luggage before getting on the plane, with the intention that the security people find it. It was basically like "you're an asshole for searching my bag!"

So the powers that be literally sat down in a room with a law book and tried to FIND something to get them in trouble for, because they were pissed.

This should in no way be legal. You either have a crime or you don't. You don't get to try and find something to charge them for. That violates the spirit of the law. The spirit of the law was not to harass people who you think have a smart mouth, it's to protect us from hijackers. These people were not hijackers.

Personally I don't think finding a way to peg someone for something they did wrong violates any spirit of any law unless that law is, "No one ever gets in trouble for anything they did wrong ever"

As for sitting down with a rule book well I kind of have to applaud them for that. I mean after all how else would they have put Capone in jail.

So you don't see anything wrong with people who abuse their power, such as using it for personal gain? Or do you?

There is something wrong with it, so did this actually happen? Why does it make it better when you sought out a loophole and abused it?

Because, as the general populace seems to claim, such behavior is WRONG. So if its wrong when I do it its wrong when they do it.

^ So that means that you get to do it too, by default?

Thats a bullshit justification if I've ever heard one.

Nothing bs about it. If its wrong to wrangle the rules until they fit a perception you like, then no one can. If its totally acceptable, then I get to to do it too. What's so wrong with that idea?

                    • Oh, I thought we were making stuff up. My mistake.

Seriously though, I never said I was better than anyone. I'm better at certain things than some people, certainly.

Just what are you on about? I'm trying to make sense of your posts and arguments, and I can't.

Wish I knew...some people just can't stand it when they get called out.

                          • Apparently my little clever remark went right over everyone's head.

I was told I think I'm better than everyone else.

To show how wrong the statement was, I made an equally stupid one.

I'm sorry I haven't proven anyone's points but my own. Good effort though.

                              • The only point you've managed to make is that you actively contravene the rules if it suits you and your persecution complex.
