  • Do humans just hate other humans?

A few years ago now a girl was raped in public and most people just calmly watched, some disgusted not voicing it some cheering. None calling for help or even offering it.

I bring this up only because today I did something getting on the bus that had most of the other passengers getting ready to form a lynch mob and openly muttering about what a monster I was. I wish this were exaggeration.

I accidentally stepped on the paw of a dog. A black dog that was mostly under the seat of a crowded bus to whom I apologized along with said owner all while trying to quickly take my seat. Then I spent the next 10 minutes to my destination being serenaded with openly hostile conversations of how horrible I was.

I was shocked. One it was clearly an accident and two I did apologize short of building a time machine I can't do anything and the dog other than the minor pain of having your foot/paw stepped on was unhurt.

Anyone else notice this imbalance in compassion?

If we hated each other, we would have never evolved to this point seeing as most evolution and development of civilization as a whole is centered around social interaction.

I would submit, rather, that you're observing mob mentality. To quote a certain Internet group: None of us is as cruel as all of us.

A lot of people are just inconsiderate, blindly stupid douchebags. they're stupid, inept, rude and selfish. This is why I do in fact hate most other people.
