Why is the Health System so stuffed! People need Health Care!

Why is our public transport system stuffed! WHY!

Why does the Pope insist on telling people contraception is evil and basically condem thousands of people in africa to death by Aids!

Why is our public school system choking due to lack of funds! Why do teachers have to fight tooth and nail for a pay raise?

Why do our Police and Fire Fighters have to fight for a pay raise?

Why cant gay people get married?

WHY WHY WHY cant logic, understanding and the view of looking after society take the precedence in the minds of our leaders?

I want a leader to answer me these questions in a logical straightforward manner even if the answer is "We dont want to pay them more because it will cost us money!' "We cant authorise gay marriage because then we wont get voted in next time!" 'School cost alot of money and we are cheap bastards"

If it is anything like what we have here, people are too proud to want to ride with "those kind of people" that ride public transit. Also, personal gripe, a trip that can take me 10 minutes in my car takes almost an hour (or two) by bus.

This is a problem I have. Why doesn't the Pope worry about leading the Catholic Church? There's plenty of problems for them to be working on in their own house (Priest scandal namely). If the Catholic Doctrine is no contraceptives, then, he is the one to say so.

I have a bit of a funny on that. My wife's mother said she should be getting paid more to be a teacher with almost 30 years in (and a Master's Degree...I should know, she would always bring that up ). I looked her up on thechampion.org. She is (as of a couple years ago) making almost 50,000/yr. Where's the problem. I will agree that the beginning wages are a bit shit. But, school districts have the money...if they'd keep out of taxpayer pockets for every shiny new "tool" that will supposedly help teach kids better, or for athletics.

Ok, here is a major gripe of mine. Whenever it comes referendum time, citizens vote down FD/PD referendums because they are taxed out. Fire and Police were loved and adored for about six months after 9/11/01. Anything could have been given to them. Now, fire and police are just hose jockeys, ticket writers and those assholes who blare sirens at night while harassing teenagers or sitting in their La-Z-Boy recliners.

But, but, but, teh ghey cannot marry. Honestly, I don't give a shit. This is the same as mixed marriage was 50 years ago. Give it time and it will go away. California and Massachusetts (and Vermont, IIRC) have already given it the go ahead and they haven't fallen into the hellish void that most religious people believe will happen. Take the religion out of the statehouse and put it in the church. Then, it will all be ok.

Because if someone rocks the boat, they may not get re-elected next time around. Or, they might lose their extra income from all of the lobbyists. Can't have anyone going against the status quo (hence why I'd never be elected to state office - I use common sense).

Firstly... are you referring to Aus in particular with your questions, or the world in general? Cos I'm not sure of the public transport issues in Afghanistan are going to be as easy to respond to as Melbourne So, except where you've asked, I'll presume you mean locally...

Well... at least we've got it free (basically). And it will take more than a mere injection of capital. Put it down to having an adequate system while still being able to pay for everything else. (btw... that is a question that gets answered by the polies...)

I'm pretty sure the Pope doesn't really care about that one Because of the amount of money it will cost... and there is no guarantee that the public will utilise it to its fullest extent to make it viable...

Because it is a part of his belief system that following the word of 'God'...including that sex is only to be used for the purposes of having children... is a part of the doctrine that he is supposed to be upholding and spreading. This one actually doesn't help when asking for logic, because 'faith', by definition, isn't logical.

They're similar enough to put into the same basket... cos tehre is only a set amount of money to go around (or so we've been told!), and so the levels are set such that there is an 'adequate' amount, while still leaving enough for everything else that needs spending on (and that is the priorities of the governments at this moment in time).

Why cant gay people get married?

Because those that make the laws have deemed that a 'marriage' must be between a man and a woman. It comes from political, social and religious pressures... and to go against them means no 2nd term (in Rudd's case).

Because sometimes, logic isn't a good enough answer. For example, logically, it may be far more practical and efficient to execute criminals for the good of society, and it mistakes are made such that innocent people are occasionally executed, so be it. There is no logical reason as to why humans should be considered more important, nor their lives, than any other animals... but that doesn't matter, because there is a moral imperative.

(btw ... recall that a couple of the Howard gov't ministers, since Rudd got in, have now come out and said that there were a few policies they didn't agree with, but supported and ratified anyway... so don't expect a completely honest answer just yet... not until they've got nothing to lose)
