  • Any Advice Doctors Give.

Or any medical professional. Why? Because their advice is always going to be a pain in the ass to follow

Have a headache? Don't take pain relief! That's bad!

Got an itch! Don't scratch it!

Have trouble sleeping? Don't take naps during the day and make sure you get up at the same time everyday. Yes, even if I only get 3 hours of sleep, I shouldn't take any naps.

Why oh why does it have to be like this? Just once I would like to go to a doctor and not be told "You're not going to like this" or "It's going to be difficult". NO! Why can't there be a solution that's not difficult and doesn't require me to suffer or make huge changes to my routine?

    GOD DAMN IT!

I've never heard the one about headaches. Why aren't you supposed to take pain relief?

You're not supposed to depend on them. However, I've found that since I frequently get headaches, I end up taking them a lot to the point of depending on them. I wish I knew what else I could do to stop them other than "put up with it".

Pain relievers are a band-aid. Unless you have a condition that cannot be altered, you should be seeking out what is giving the headaches and stop them from happening at all as opposed to just trying to hide the pain, which could be a sign of something far worse.

Unfortunately when dealing with the body and its workings there rarely are quick or easy fixes, the body is stupidly complicated, which is why doctors have to spend so much time learing about it to be able to give you that advice.

I actually prefer the doctors that look for long term solutions versus the ones that seem to just go, "Here's some pills now go away"

I always hate it when doctors say to me, "Lose weight" when I have already told them that I'm trying to do so, dammit. It just takes time; I'm not about to turn up to my next appointment a skinny size ten.

Loved the last doctor I got a physical from. He wasn't an idiot. Asked what my diet was like and looked at things like my blood pressure. Said losing weight is a good idea to avoid health problems in the future but that I am in excellent health and I clearly eat well.

He even commended me on meditation.
