Regardless of whether the OP is true, exaggerated, or false, I'm not a homophobe. I don't care much for Rosie O'Donnell, and don't find Ellen Degeneres particularly funny. Neither of them really bother me, but I can live without either one of them just the same. I'm not homosexual, but I have homosexual friends. I figure what they do and who they do it with is their own business just like what I do and who I do it with is my own business.

And if Rosie was straight, me not liking her would make me what?
That's why the friend is batshit in need of a labotomy with a baseball bat, not liking a straight person because of who they are as a person (personality) is fine, not liking a gay/bi person for their personality and nothing else to do with gender preferences, should in all sanity, be no big deal, but thinking like that needs some form of psychiatric intervention.
Edit:
If Nic Cage was gay but still made the films he made, I would still enjoy the films as they were good films regardless.
Same for Clive Owen, although I do have a man crush on him so that would be something to hmm about.
Edit:
And I mean, if either were openly gay from the get go not outed at some point in their careers and the movies made are exactly the same movies, not rampped up a notch in camp, unless it was a camp movie to begin with.Last edited by Ginger Tea; 09-21-2011, 09:14 PM.

Why do people do this? Why do they think it's okay to fight hate with hate? Whoever the person freaking out was has NO idea what homophobia is--they're just paranoid. I suppose this is a product of a world where hate runs almost uncontrolled in many places. It's sad, and stupid, and I hope we can find a way to put an end to it! (Re: Rosie--Not really a fan, though she did have a small role on my favorite show once. I am, however, a straight ally. No homophobia here!)

I've had friends (obviously not close ones or ones I knew very well) that I thought were nice, balanced people......then one subject change and WOW do they snap.
Brown Noser at work did that. I can't remember how it started, but I made a comment about my Dad watching FOX news and he started on one of his 15 minutes or more straight speedtalking rampages on his soapbox about conservatives and Republicans and racists and bigots and dumb rich white people....I mean, I never cared for this coworker much, but I never saw him on a tangent any worse than a debate over what was better, Xbox or Playstation, Family Guy or South Park, ya know?
The world is made of all kinds of freaks.

Giving Brown Noser some credit, Fox news does have some pretty racist and bigoted personalities that they bring in... that doesn't mean that someone who watches that channel is watching the shows that bring in those wackjobs or that they agree with it.
That logic makes about as much sense as saying that I watch Cartoon Network so I must be a 12 year old kid (no, I just watch American Dad before going to bed)."I'm Gar and I'm proud" -slytovhand

I guess I'm a homophobe too, I don't like Rosie O'Donnell either. Sad thing is, I used to love watching her show well before I even knew she was gay -- there were one or two things that made me stop watching it, which has nothing to do with who she choses to be with. I prefer to watch Ellen anyways, when I can.
I've known people before to go off on random things after mentioning something, when I believed they were otherwise sane people.

... then again, I've also been told I'm only gay because I don't like football, so the stupid things people say about sexual orientation don't surprise me too much anymore.
As for OP:

WTF? I cannot stand Rosie O'Donnell and it has nothing to do with her sexuality, it has to do with her loud, ignorant mouth. I am hardly a homophobe, I could care less who you get it on with, if you are cool with me, I am cool with you. People can love whomever they want too, as long as it doesn't harm someone else.
Sounds like your friend has some issues.

Well, now, that's a *bit* different; most, at least, of the people I heard of being called racist/sexist over the last election, it was because they were making up nonsense about Obama being a Kenyan Muslim (double whammy; while being Kenyan would make him ineligible, it's... not racist, exactly, but something akin to that that equates all of Islam with evil), printing up fake currency with the White House in the middle of a watermelon patch, etc."My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

Ellen use to be funny. She had some great jokes about airline food. Now it's all politics.
This is probably why I prefer watching BBC late night shows. I mean I don't watch much of it in the first place but I'd rather see people like "Chatty man"
Then again, according to wiki, the Chatty Man himself says his sexuality isn't part of the act.
Despite being openly gay and very camp, he does not consider his sexuality to be a focal part of his act, once saying that "I just think gay people need to get over themselves. Just because you're gay and on the telly doesn't mean you're a role model. I'm just a comedian. That's all I am. ... What am I meant to do? Do I go down the Julian Clary route and talk about fisting and poppers? I don't talk about being gay and I think what better equality for gays than that?".
That's probably why I like him and other BBC actors... It's not that I care if they're gay or straight ... I just like jokes and humor that EVERYONE can relate to.
Kinda like Bill Cosby's original skits... he use to talk about race. Then he realized he reached a bigger audience when he focused on things all races can relate to, such as parenting issues, and jello pudding pops.
