    OMG yes.

I mean hell so what if your team loses. You aren't going to die ... no one ever died from a sore pussy over something like that.

Hell i should know. I loved the yankess back when they fucking sucked. back when we had eric plunk (that last name says it all) in the pitching roster and a hole in 3rd base that you could fit an aircraft carrier through.

i didn't die from watching a losing game.
at the most if it was really depressing (usualy if plunk was pitching) we'd jsut change the channel.

(which oddly enough included watching plunk pitch against my team after he was traded away. sure i like watching the yankees win but watching him throw the game so horribly was even depressing when it was in our favor)

I tend to shut these people saying I am Seattle sports fan. and come to a Seattle Seahawks fan about sucky ass refs (didn't the one from the Superbowl say he screwed up). Your team lost move on to the next week. Being a Seattle sports fan is probably why I will usually cheer for the underdog during other games.

Thing I hate are fair weather fans (my in-laws), and only cheer for the team if they are winning. I am sorry no. You cheer for your team whether they are winning or losing. I have seen this in soccer (Seattle Sounders) around here. We can be losing and the crowd is still cheering for our boys to win.

I stick with my favourite teams until the end.

I should know a thing or two about losing: I'm a Toronto Maple Leafs fan.

In general I like to see competitive games no matter who is playing and who wins. Blowouts aren't usually fun.

Sports fans are a scary bunch. I really don't get it. Unless you have some personal stake in the game, why freak out if they don't win?

I'm from Colorado, and my 'teams' are the CSU Rams, Air Force, and on occasion, the Rockies...If I cared about making excuses for my teams losing, I'd have ran out LONG ago!

Better we get angry over sports than something like a government who doesn't work for its people or something important like that.

And I don't care if someone is pissed that their team lost for some BS reason or another, but rioting whether you win, lose, or haven't even won anything yet (PHILLY) is just plain ridiculous.

As someone who never really took an interest in watching sports, I never understood it either. Didn't our parents used to tell us"Calm down, it's only a game?"

unfortunately its the parents these days who cause half the problems at KIDS games. the kids are out there mostly for the fun of it (unless they have a parent who want to live vicariously though their kid then what fun is there amymore))

Was just coming here to post something similar to this. Yesterday was not a good day for Florida college teams. Miami, FSU, and UF all lost horribly and everyone is bitching and moaning about it on FB. At least two people who also work at my Volde-Mart (but not in my department) were so upset that the more their team lost, the more they drank. And drank. And drank some more. They got themselves completely shit-faced because 'they' lost a freaking football game. If I was thinking that I didn't have much of a life, I feel a hell of a lot better now.

What I love are the people who claim to be diehard fans of a team, but only seem to acknowledge they are part of the bandwagon once the team wins, so they can claim no knowledge of liking the team while on a losing streak.

                        For teams I like:
The Tigers and Yankees (Don't ask...followed them since I was a kid)
                        The Lions (Don't ask...I'm a masochist)
                        The Red Wings

                        college:
Michigan (was a fan since childhood, wanted to go there but circumstances said otherwise)
                        Eastern Michigan (went there)
Navy (Dad and both grandpas were in the Navy, I almost ended up in the Navy).

Anyway, one thing I can't stand is people that harp on the one call that they claim lost them the game. Sorry...good teams can overcome bad calls (unless they occur in the closing minutes of the game).

The game last night was just awesome. Fiance wanted the Bears to win; being a Packers fan he wants the Lions to break their streak. But the Lions played so well and Cutler had his head up his ass so spectacularly that even he was cheering for the Lions by the end.

The Packers/Lions game later on is going to be pretty amazing.

ETA: My most recent sports annoyance - Fiance has been giving me shit on a regular basis about how poorly Kansas is playing in football. Yeah, we suck. Yes, we will be annihilated by KState. He can't seem to understand that football isn't really a thing here. People save their time, energy, and money for basketball, and we have a pretty amazing basketball team. I just hope this is the year that we don't choke in the NCAA thanks to Podunk Community College. But, being a rabid SEC follower, he just doesn't get it. "Basketball is boring! Basketball is stupid! You should have a better football team!"

Yeah...my cousin just absolutely froths at the mouth of the mention of the Packers. Especially Aaron Rodgers.

She posted about the Bears on FB tonight. Now, this is just getting petty, but Mom rubbed it in that the Packers are still undefeated, and my cousin writes back "You Packer fans are ALL the same! Fair weather people! Wait until your Aaron Rodgers goes down the tubes like Favre!"

Nothing fair weather about how people feel about CryBaby Favre the Diva. As an athlete, or even a simple Joe Blow, you NEVER turn your back on people who have loved, supported and cheered for you for many years, through all your problems, then turn around throw a fit when you don't get your way, and go play for the other team. Nothing fair weather at all about Packer fans turning their back on him.

At any rate, Rodgers is a far more respectable and decent player than Favre. And relatable. The dude actually smiles and is friendly and warm towards people, not "I'm the whole team, look at me!"

Even with as little as I know about football, I know that the Bears are terrible and Cutler is terrible. And Aaron Rodgers is pretty amazing. Damn, he's hot. Clay Matthews, too. Rawr.

Anyways, yeah, Rodgers fought really hard to gain respect and establish himself after the Farve nonsense. If anybody deserves success, it's him.

'my' teams are Palermo (soccer) and Arizona (American Football)

Palermo's alright, but being an Arizona fan...
