I prefer Pitts over Phillie and day. But I am a NY and FL girl. Not the Islanders, though. I don't like Tampa teams since I was from the east coast of FL, now live on the wrong side of the state. My friends and I make fun of each other in good humor. Like the Yankees, I prefer my Mets. I am friends with people from Boston. Again good fun, no hate fest

My dad's entire side of the family are from a suburb of Boston, so they're all die hard Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins fans. I'm a big fan of both the Celtics and the Bruins, but I hate the Red Sox and the Patriots with a passion.

In baseball, I'm an Angels fan. In football, I'm a Dolphins fan. My dad's family and I don't get along too well during football season.

And this is why I don't care. It's all regionalism at its...finest? Worse? Bah.

Every form of hating another group for something that's different about them - whether it's race, sex, color, religion, sports, favorite Magic color, or whatever else - is tribalism. That's what tribalism is - banding together with others like you and declaring everyone who isn't like you is inferior and worthy of scorn and hatred.

Sports tribalism does come across as particularly petty, though.

I can stand the Bruins, but thats it for Boston. Don't care for basketball. I love my Dolphins. Tampa, only team I'll root for is the Rays. Unless the other teams are playing ones I don't like. Again, its all good fun.

I once saw two old ladies with a Yankees cap and a Red Sox cap. It gave me a chuckle.

I live in Ohio, and around here, Ohio State fandom is pretty huge. Many people here refer to the University of Michigan as "that school up north." You should see this place when the OSU vs Michigan game comes up in November.

We also seem to have quite a few Steelers fans around here.

Me, I root for OSU, but I've never been able to muster up a great deal of enthusiasm for a sports team.

I really only loath sports teams that have a dirty/miserable style of play overall. So Bruins or Flyers for example. The fans tend to be as miserable as their teams too, to be honest.

I don't watch any other sports to judge though beyond my genetic disposition towards hockey.

We're being far from awesome right now. Though Schied has certainly changed the mood. AV needs to get tossed on his ass in the off season regardless of what happens this year though.

The hit job done on the Canucks by US sports media was sadly pretty damn effective. Any shred of evidence people can find to fit the preconcieved narrative they leap on. Not only are they all convinced the Canucks are somehow the dirtiest team in the league ( A pretty amazing accomplishment when you're from Boston ) but that the rest of Canada hates the Canucks too.

The rest of Canada doesn't much care. Canadian fans tend to stick with whichever Canadian team is left, then whichever American team has the most Canadians. The only Canadian team the rest of Canada actively dislikes is Toronto. >.>

I think winning the presidents trophy and being the one of 2 Canadian teams in the playoffs and coming second last year makes them an awesome team.

I think a true fan loves their team through good and bad. If they don't make it past this playoff round they are no less in my esteem. They played well through most of the season.

Any hockey fan who thinks the Canucks are the dirtest team is delusional.
