  • Booing my national anthem

At work they were watching a hockey game where an american team was playing against a canadian team.

The american audience BOOED the Canadian national anthem.

WELL FUCK YOU. OUR TEAM IS PLAYING IT'S OUR SPORT AND YOU CAN KISS MY ASS. Noone booed the american anthem afterwards but I almost wish we had.

Some people have either no class or no brains. It depends why they were booing.

    Who was playing?

Wow, way to make Americans look like dickheads. My mom is so anti-American it's not funny, she would be all over this. "You see that? I told you Americans were rude/arrogant/etc"
Yeah, I am disgusted by this. But I would be just as disgusted if Canadians had decided to boo the American Anthem. Because that kind of crap would make us all look bad.

I don't know it was on last week and I don't follow sports.

Some Americans are such asses. >_<

That's not representative of the whole population, I assure you. It was probably a rivalry game. Common sense goes out the window in rivalry games.

Some places just have no class.

I used to watch a lot of Lakers basketball (my family are fans, I'm ambivalent), and every time they'd get to Utah, the audience would be notably less pleasant. Also, Utah fans wouldn't stick around if their team was losing, either. If it was particularly bad, by the end of the game, there'd be more Lakers fans than Jazz fans. Way to show your support.

I love our neighbors to the north and would never boo "O Canada"...

Let's not play this game. I can go on google and find multiple links of multiple incidents of games played in Canada where they booed the American national anthem.

Actually you can't because its specific to one city in Canada: Montreal. You will get plenty of hits regarding just Montreal. Because Habs fans boo everything when they're upset. Anthems, the other team, their OWN team ( They'll boo them off the ice. ), you name it. But the anthem thing though tends to be specific to one particular visiting team: Boston. Montreal detests the Boston Bruins. With good reason I might add. It was after that point they began booing the anthem and the Bruins for every game in the series.

Ugh....so rude to boo anyone's national anthem.

I remember at the Revolution v Manchester United game I thought it was rude that they didn't even bother to play the British anthem...way to be a nice host.

(than Man U kicked our ass in the 2nd half.....oh well)

I assume you're referring to the Pacioretty incident?

Edited to add: Nevermind - I should have clicked the link.

                        Heh, yep.

Also, wow, that seriously took all of 4 minutes for the shit to hit the fan tonight. Does anyone like Boston except for Boston? >.>

Edit: Argh. This is why I don't watch hockey much anymore with the crap the league allows lately. That little fucker was doing that in the playoffs too. Ugh.

It's seriously only a matter of time, I agree. One of my best friends is a Bruins fan. In every other way he's a decent, rational person. I just don't get it.

Not that I was aware of.
