  • Guilty or not, here I come...

So I've been following the news on this missing girl from my state. I won't go into too much detail, you either know the story or you don't.

The annoying thing is how everyone is jumping down the dad's throat. I can understand a little bit of suspicion - he was the last person to see her. But every single tiny little detail, people are like "OMG THAT MEANS GILTEE!!!!!!"

Example: Little girl, for whatever reason, at the time of disappearance, had a cast on her arm.

"Hey, how come she had a cast? How come the dad isn't talking about it? I SMELL A GILTEE CON-CHINCE! It's so obvious! He broke her arm and then murdered her!"

So Dad comes out and says "Well actaully what happened is...<describes accident>"

"Hey, how come he's suddenly being so open with this stuff? Isn't it a little suspicious he just randomly starts talking about the cast? GILTEE CONCHINCE! HE DID IT!"

I just hope none of those people are EVER on a jury. I hate how people can make these big giant judgements about a person with absolutely no evidence or proof whatsoever except what they've made up in their head.

    Look down at desk.
    Smash head on it.
Repeat until pain caused by stupid people is numbed.

This is what we call "Headdesk"

    People like that are pathetic.
They want to see someone guilty brought to justice over the crime. But you need a guilty person to bring to justice first. So they'll take any evidence, petty or otherwise, and pin it on the person so they have their "guilty" person they want seem taken to justice.
Then they scream out loud that this person is 'guilty' and wait for the police to take them in, for which they will cheer and celebrate.
    *spit*

Most times, the 'evidence' they find is pathetic at best and not even related to the crime at worst.

This. I've been travelling the past few days so I have NO idea what you are talking about.

Though it sounds like another Casey Anthony case from what you described: Absolutely no proof he did it but thanks to the media he's going to be hatefucked by the public.

I and others have mentioned this sort of thing before.

We like to have someone to accuse and someone who would make sense as the perpetrator, regardless of what the act was or the outcome.

Because the idea that life can be random and cruel scares the stuffing out of most people.

I don't have a direct link right off hand, but the girl's name is Ayla Reynolds. From Maine. Missing for a month now. It's kind of sad.

I just read an article about how this guy is definitely sure the dad is guilty, and he has this big long thing with the dad's statements and he's underlining and highlighting, and he's like "The father uses the term 'sole custody' at one point...that is clearly a legal term. He must be under the advise of lawyers and only guilty people get lawyers. There you have it."

Something that really tends to annoy me about this mentality is that when sensible people point out that there is still reasonable doubt, they have to put up with accusations of "wanting to coddle criminals" and "feeling more sympathy for the attacker than for the victims." No, I don't want to coddle criminals, and no, I don't have more sympathy for them than for the victims, but I also don't want the wrong person to get punished for the crime, either. That would do no one any good.

This is why I don't like watching Nancy Grace. I swear, if the police are investigating a crime and mention a person's name in regards to anything pertaining to the crime, you're guilty in some way.
