  • When bad things happen to good people

I fully understand that things happen in life that we have no control over, and you just deal. But there's times like this where I'm dumbfounded as to how people go through unexpected things they simply don't deserve.

My beautiful sister, K, is the sweetest person I know. I can tell her anything and she's the only person that wouldn't judge me. She's endured really cruel hardships throughout her life without complaint. She's 4 years older than me, and my parents found out when she was about 5 that she's missing half a chromosome; which is a condition known as Turner syndrome. As a result, she has severe learning disabilities, won't be able to have kids, and is just shy of five feet tall. She struggled in school due to her disabilities and kids picked on her constantly because she looks different. I've gotten used to people staring at me in public when I'm with her.

But like I said, she lives a normal life and manages to the best of her ability without complaint. The problem now is that she has alopecia! Yes, she's always had long, thick, beautiful chestnut hair that I was always jealous of growing up; and now it's all going to fall out! It's already started to do so pretty fast. She's going to a dermatologist soon to find out what to do.

Meanwhile, I'm wishing it was my hair instead of hers. I hate when things like this happen to people like K; while rude, ignorant, and cruel people shit all over everyone else and seem to be getting all the breaks. I know I'm complaining, but it just isn't fair.

It is making her a stronger and better person, it would make them more cruel. How much of "their success" is actually bought by the suffering of others? I doubt your sister has ever said an unkind word about anyone, and will probably continue to not do so. The "successful people" more than likely have no real friends due to all the backstabbing, and will never be happy.

I don't know your views on God, or whatever, but regardless, I think this post has a lot ot say about the human condition.

Thanks, RK. I love Waiterrant; I must have missed that one.

I've gotten over the whole situation a little bit; however "over it" I can get; I guess.
