  • Facebook 'please repost if'

You love your mom, sister, aunt, jimbobfurleybob.....

or some other plea to repost something. Worse since my mom plays some of the facebook games on my page (shhh that is a secret) they often get reposted. So if they hit your page because of me .. I am really really sorry. Its getting to the point that I think I need a nerf bat to hit something with every time I see a new one. *sighs*

    Ugh. Totally with you there.

I'm really, really tired of the "repost this" things. Especially since most of them are so utterly glurgetastic to begin with.

Especially when they say, 'I think I know which of my friends will repost this!' Well, at least you already know I'm not going to then.

Anyone who spams me with game requests. Sorry you can't get enough people to play with you, oh so sorry.

I once befriended a parent of one of my younger brother's friends. Seriousy, I thought it would be way different.

This person PM'ed me on almost a daily basis for nearly a week or two before I deleted them, because every day, they would ask me to be their Farmville friend, and their status every. single. day was that they needed more people to advance on Farmville or whatever.

I try very hard not to hit any of my non-game-playing friend with any game requests.

Most games have the ability to only send requests to other people who are playing that game and I really wish more people would use it.

I can't tell you how many Zynga games I have on ignore these days. And my aunt keeps trying to get me to join her playing slots games, which I don't play at all. But every day it's a half dozen new requests to play slots.

          ^-.-^

I play only two Facebook Games: The Sims Social and Hidden Chronicles. I am slowly becoming bored with the latter because the level of customisation is low and the recent changes have made it untenable. The former, despite the copious bitching about it that I've seen, I actually enjoy a lot. I too try very hard to not click on anyone's name whom I know doesn't play. I block the feeds of any other games from my wall, though lickily I'm not personally bugged from other games too often.

I ignore all chain messages...and it's funny to see them sitting there all forlorn and empty several hours later. Sometimes there's a whiny message along the lines of 'does no-one care?'. Again, luckily there are only a few people who post these. When it's a myth, I post the inevitable Snopes link debunking it then unfollow and hide the post before the ignorami start flapping.

I hate those "repost if.." things.

If it's something I genuinely care about, or it's a great message, I do repost and will completely edit out the "repost if..." or "Send to X number of lovely/strong/beautiful women/dog owners/cat owners/disease sufferers/family members of victims...etc."

I always double check the ones that reek of mistaken info, "urban legend" or myth before sharing. (I wish more people would.)
I have to laugh when I post a link to snopes that completely debunks it, and then I will see the stupid story posted again by other mutual friends on their pages.

As for the game requests, I really do try to edit out people that I know for a fact do not play the games, or I think don't play the games.

There are only a few that I play regularly.

I have my settings set to block a lot of the requests from games I don't play.

I started to edit my friends list based on some of the games, and some games will let you post only on the walls of people in your custom friends groups. (Sometimes I forget.)

I noticed that the 2 Zynga games I do play have started asking me to give them access to all my friends so that it can personalize and target fellow "Zynga" players, but I just keep clicking on the no thanks, and it keeps coming back up every time I open the games again.
                Point to Ponder:

Is it considered irony when someone on an internet forum makes a post that can be considered to look like it was written by a 3rd grade dropout, and they are poking fun of the fact that another person couldn't spell?

Facebook games tend to incentive you to invite non-playing friends to play, because it is a cornerstone of their strategy for getting revenue.

Ugh, I hate all these requests for facebook games, I wish there was one button I could press to block every single one of the damn things.

Considering all the Ravenskye notices, you need to work on that a bit more. :P

Hey, the wall stuff isn't the same thing. It's the direct messages that I control who I send to. Otherwise, if you get my wall, you get my game notices until you ignore/block the game (or my wall ).

Yeah, that's what I meant. I'm getting "Polly invited you to [x]"

Not that I actually mind that much. :P

Actually it's kinda fun, I'm just teasing.

A while ago, there were two people on my friends list (high school classmates) who would frequently post this one that went like:

"Pepsi has put out a new can with the Pledge of Allegiance on it. However, they took out the "Under God" part. They said it was because they didn't want to offend anyone. Well, I guess they don't be offended if we don't give them our money. Repost if you agree!"

Seriously, the same two people would post this as their status about once a week for over a month. Okay, we get it that you're pissed off because Pepsi put out a can that has the Pledge of Allegiance in it's original form, but I'm sure God isn't going to be overly bothered by the fact that his name wasn't put on a soda can.

Besides, Pepsi still seems to be doing pretty well, so I seriously doubt that them not buying this one can put much of a dent in their sales.

The latest thing that's ticking me off is that "How to get rid of Timeline" thing that's going around.

Yeah, if you're using Google Chrome, you download an app that lets you see your page as it used to be, but if you aren't using Chrome, it makes no difference.

(Apparently, other browsers also have apps that do the same thing, but Chrome seems to be the one that's getting suggested.)

You aren't removing Timeline. You're just changing the way your browser shows it.

For the past 2 days, every time I see someone make a suggestion to one of my friends about it, I have been posting links to the sites that tell the truth, and I have even posted the links as a status update.

Still, people are continuing to get that suggestion and say, "Thanks. I'll try that," even after I've posted all those warnings.

Nice to know my friends are paying attention to my posts. LOL
That can really mess with a person's self esteem.
