  • People who spout random spoilers

I know that it's fun to go "Holy shit I saw this movie/read this book/watched this TV show and it was awesome!"
But to follow it up with "Oh, you have seen/read it yet? You have to just for the part where they Bob the main character gets a rectal snake infection/turns out to be the bad guy/is dead the whole time, etc.."
Please, SHUT THE FUCK UP. I'm not kidding. It's great that we have this thing in common, but to go out of your way to spoil these great parts for me just because you have the self control of a 3 year old on Red Bull is utter and complete bullshit!
What's worse are friends who seem to go out of their way to find out about things that many of their friends enjoy but they don't and fuck them up JUST BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE THEM. "Oh, I ruined this ending for you? Ha! Great joke, no?"

It makes me wish acid pits and cave traps filled with rabid bears were legal

Here's a 'spoiler' back at them.

"I know how the story of your life ends. Wanna hear it? No? Too bad! You die friendless and alone because of dick moves like spoiling shit for other people just because you think it's 'cute'."

That's what set me off. some dickholes on line did the whole "Oh wow, you saw the end of the Avengers too and saw <REDACTED> happen!?"

If hate were sex, I would have imipregnated them through the intertubes right then and there.

My friend did that. She saw The Avengers opening night and put the BIG SPOILER as her Facebook status. Now, since she has many friends who are comic book fans, you think she's know better, since we'd all get it, you know (people who only watched the movies might not get the significance of it)?

Worse, when I called her on it, she didn't even apologize, and her answer to me on my wall also spoiled my husband, whom I was trying to keep innocent. So now I am doubly pissed.

In another incident, I 'spoiled' part of the end of A Game of Throne for an FB friend. But in this case, the series had been over for a month, and the book had been out for 15 years...it was hardly opening night. I was sorry to spoil her but thought she was a bit unreasonable; however, telling everyone the ending on opening night is wrong.

I'm currently not liking a post by the Once Upon a Time page that has a still from the next episode, because a friend of mine won't get to see the episode that aired last Sunday until she gets back home, 2 weeks from now.

I don't want it to show up on my feed because it's so utterly spoilertastic. >_<

On that, I see it as the expiration date has gone and passed on good mannered keeping of info, so I personally see no foul. Would it suck? Sure, but it's not the same as people who watch a show or read a book that just came out and gush all the plot twists and cool surprises.

It's like at the end of Iron Man, I had friends who just told me to stay for the after credits scene, but wouldn't tell me WHY, and I was grateful. the "WOO HOO!" of finding out that Samuel L. had been cast as Nick Fury was awesome

SERIOUSLY DO NOT READ SPOILERS AHEAD!

---Ok so it turns out that Voldemort was Keyser Soze all along!

Reply: OMFG dude spoilers! Not all of us have seen the movie!

Actually, fuck that. I think spoiler tags are a waste. You know what the spoiler tag was? The title of the message board that shares the name of the movie you haven't seen yet!!!!

They're helpful, though, on *other* boards/lists/whatever. For example, the day one of the Harry Potter books came out, it wasn't nice for the CS thread about it to contain a spoiler in the title.

                    Ah, yes, the Asshole assumption.

Because fans never want to engage in speculation, philosophical debate or anything other than talk about all the twists and turns form the latest movie that came out a whole 8 seconds ago.

                    ^-.-^

I suppose, then, that it's worth mentioning that The Avengers has TWO "encore" clips, not just one.

Haven't seen the movie yet, but people on another forum I'm on mentioned that, and other people have expressed gratitude for that tidbit of information.

Especially annoying if it's a mailing list rather than a site. Sure, the list is specifically about X. Fine, I won't check sites about X until after I see/read/whatever it... except I can't not check email for days, and, again, spoilers are sitting right there in the subject lines.

My situation was a Facebook post, which I can hardly avoid and wasn't expecting. And even in threads about new movies most people are considerate enough to whiteout the spoilers.

Thankfully, the few forums I visit are civilized and threads about pop culture hits are often listed as either containing spoilers or spoiler free in their subject lines and the spoiler free are kept that way by excellent mods.

Facebook and Twitter, however, can be much more of a crap-shoot, particularly when you end up seeing a post from someone you don't know because someone you do know responded to them.

ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.
