  • Being Majorly Opinionated- At the Wrong Time

I don't mind people having opinioins. I don't mind if they get all sorts of crazy about it. But when you are being checked out by a cashier, do not start a fight over politcs or religion (or anything else for that matter). Small talk is fine, but it irks me when people want to argue with a total stranger who is trying to do their job. I usually say "Have a nice day" and move on to the next person. They get the clue. Thankfully I haven't needed a manager.

Also (prolly around '08) had someone try to stop from someone buying some ice cream "because George Bush endorses it". I understand not buying something cause of something you don't like. But don't go to a total stranger and say such things. Some people (like me) don't really care who endorses or who owns what.

As I said, having opinions is fine. But some people just take it too far..

My grandpa once went to a barber shop to get his hair cut, and told the barber (who he'd never met before) that he was going to hell because he was not a member of the Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Church.

What is this I don't even.

This sort of nonsense is why I dislike a good chunk of fervently religious people. Having your faith is all well and good. Sharing your faith is all well and good. But when you start using it as a weapon with which to attack other people, you've stepped over the line.

Incidentally, that's why I actually have respect Jehovah's Witnesses. While they are tasked with proselytizing, they take, "No thank you," for an answer, and don't badger you about it or declare that you're going to hell for not following their particular stripe of Christianity.

Did he at least have the sense to wait until after the barber was done with his hair?

Meh, small minded people prefer to focus on the tiny differences rather than the big similarities.

          The old joke...
I was walking across a bridge one day and I saw a man standing on a ledge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said, "Stop! Don't do it!"
          "Why shouldn't I?" he asked.
"Well, there's so much to live for." "Like what?"
"Well, are you religious?" He said yes. I said, "Me too!"
"Are you Christian or Buddhist?" "Christian." "Me too!"
"Are you Catholic or Protestant?" "Protestant." "Me too!"
"Are you Episcopalian or Baptist?" "Baptist." "Wow, me too!
"Are you Baptist Church of God or are you Reformed Baptist Church of God?" "Reformed Baptist Church of God." "Hey,me too!"
"Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1789 or Reformed Baptist Church of God, 1915?"
"He said, "Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915." "Me too."
"Are you Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915, Western Congregation, or Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915, Eastern Congregation?"
"He said: "Reformed Baptist Church of God, Reformation of 1915, Eastern Congregation."
"I said, "Die, heretic scum!!" And pushed him off the bridge.

Jehovah's Witnesses that take "no" for an answer?

            Hahahaha.

Sure, close the door on them, they leave. Respectable.

And two weeks later, two more come to the door and try again.

Sure. And you just have to say, "No, thank you," to them, and close the door again. They won't try to press the issue, they won't try to force their view on you. They'll just try, every now and then, to see if you're receptive to their message.

I had JW's driving by the bus stop I waited at. They'd show up once a week, hand out Awake and Watchtower to anyone who would take it, try to strike up a conversation, and then leave once it was clear that nobody had time to talk. I wish more evangelists were as respectful.

Edit: If you ever want to get rid of JW's once and for all, I'll give you a trick. It requires lying, so I don't know if you're willing to do this. But if you are: When they strike up the conversation and identify themselves as JWs, tell them, "Oh, I used to be a Jehovah's Witness. Would you like to discuss why I left?" They will politely decline, and leave. They're not allowed to talk to apostates.

They don't drive around here, at least not when they are looking for money or someone to talk to, woops I mean, sending their kids around to do their work.

                They bike. Or walk.

I just think it's silly and unwanted solicitation. Go away. Jesus isn't hiding, I found him already. Never knew he was missing.

I found one, though it isn't political or really hot topic involved.

Say you're just a miserable person. One of those people who, when in a sour mood, think it's funny to play "opposite opinion just because".

This person has given me completely bassackwards opinions. That it's safer for your teeth to guzzle soda than to eat fruit. No. Both are acidic. Fruit is naturally acidic. Soda is horrible. You cannot NOT eat fruit just because it's acidic. Oh, cue some retarded made up statistic/fact that we should NOT be eating fruit.

Then playing fitness master, when your most physical activity each day is either masturbating, or playing with a video game controller. Versus ME, who does 15-20 miles at the gym Thurs-Sun, lifts weights, and despite a not perfect diet, still makes better decisions than McDonalds every damn day. You're only skinnier than me because you are a young male whose metabolism is naturally faster than mine. Keep up the 24/7 video games and not exercising and we'll see how much you weigh in 10 years. Oh, wait.....I'm "so slow" when I walk and bike, because you made up a new statistic that people "should" be able to bike a mile in like 3 minutes and should be able to walk a mile in 10. Whatever. What makes me sweat, makes me sweat. I do more than sit in my bedroom, hating the world and playing video games. So fuck off.

Try driving through the southern states with Canadian license plates.

To quote my mom: "Never. Again."

My parents use to RV through the States every summer. They won't go back now with Obama in office. Not because of Obama, they like him, but because of the reaction to Obama. Having Canadian plates means they were the immediate target of "OMFG SOCIALISM" in every town they drove through. Even if they were just stopping for gas. -.-

Had a lady come in today and we talked politics. This time I didn't mind. She wasn't pushing any bottons with me and she hasn't been out really from taking care of her dad.I am also the one who kinda started the convo.

I guess there are exceptions to what I complain about .
