  • Stupid People with Stupid Arguments

On the forums of a game I play, I tend to be surrounded by some pretty special people. Besides posting ridiculous threads, most can't debate for their lives.

We have one current thread going on about aliens. Someone mentioned they have landed and that the government is covering it up so they can use the technology. I pointed out that that can't be true, as no one has seen any of this supposed stolen technology. I reasoned our inventions come from a need of a specific tool or is just an innovation. Some guy responded to my post, asking me if I really think that, then where did microchips come from and what was it an improvement on?

Are you kidding me? Of all the possible arguments against me, he asks about microchips? It's just a new version of a tracking device. What kind of argument is microchips? I can't even take that reply seriously.

So, yea, that's what I deal with a lot in that game. I'm sick of really stupid arguments where people can't even come up with a semi-decent idea. I wish there were smarter people there, like Fratching. At least people here seem to have reasoning behind their arguments.

    Microchips?? How lame!!

He should have said 'jets'... it's jets that came from the aliens...not microchips!!!

(I'm presuming that you're taking issue with the actual argument, not the conclusion itself?)

Hey... ask him what his brain was an improvement on..
ZOE: Preacher, don't the Bible got some pretty specific things to say about killing?

SHEPHERD BOOK: Quite specific. It is, however, Somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

Just...of all the examples imaginable, why microchips? Why not something that'd seem like alien technology?

Did you ask him if transistors and vacuum tubes are alien technology too?

          AHAHAHAHA! Too funny!

If you ever want to have some fun with him, just point out the computer he's using has several dozen microchips, so by his logic, he's being tracked as he's posting it.
