This was raw squid....and it was still rubbery I gave it a fair shot. I still like many many many things on the sushi bar. In fact I am craving it and may go have some tonight.....

As for hating mashed potatoes, my youngest daughter is like that. I don't get it. I LOVE THEM LOVE THEM LOVE THEM.

My big oddity is I'm extremely picky when it comes to breakfast. I'm a purist when it comes to that. I stick to coffee, orange juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, toast, and pancakes/waffles/french toast. Potato stuff like hash browns, home fries, and chocolate chips in pancakes are straight out for me, as is anything else that, to me, isn't breakfast. Bear in mind, chocolate chips and potatoes are fine any other time of day, it's only breakfast time that I'm picky.

But I will have a boston creme donut which has chocolate in them. Go figure.

Mashed potatoes can have so many different textures and flavors.

Makes me wonder which textures those who don't like them don't like.

In my eldest nephew's case...all of them. He claims that soft foods like mashed potatoes, etc, make him gag. Yet, he eats fries with no problem. Go figure!

As a guy, I get that a lot with not liking sports in general. People start talking sports, and I just zone out. No one seems to get that I'm not interested and don't care. I don't watch it because it bores the hell out of me. I don't play sports like baseball, basketball, or football because I learned long ago that I'm not the athletic type.

I like to go bowling, but haven't done that in a long time. Even so, I still find it boring to watch on TV. I've never been golfing in my life, and find it boring as hell to watch on TV. However, I like mini-golf. I also don't understand the appeal of watching wrestling, extreme fighting, racing, and other such things. However, I like going to watch the demolition derby at the county fair or something of that nature.

As for food, my tastes change as quickly as my moods. Sometimes I like junk food, and other times I can't stand it. Spicy foods make my mouth break out in sores, so I'm cautious about that. I often skip breakfast because I usually only want coffee when I first wake up. I usually try to avoid heavy foods of an evening because I wake up in the middle of the night with bad heartburn and indigestion. Basic rule of thumb, I eat when I feel hungry and then stop until I feel hungry again.

I also usually concentrate on eating one thing at a time which seems to puzzle everyone. If I go out to eat, servers constantly ask me if something is wrong with my food because I eat all of one thing on my plate before moving on to the other items on my plate. Others have made comments. Another thing is that I drink tons of fluid when I eat because my esophagus easily constricts. If I'm not careful, food gets stuck in my throat and triggers my gag reflex. I've had to have the doctor dilate my espohagus before, and that has helped some.

The thing that mostly bothers me about the whole "You're a guy, so you should like sports" thing is the couple of my friends who act like I'm crazy for being able to name, say, every person in every band I like, or trivia about video games, or whatever. But they can name all of the people on all of the football teams they care about, and spend hours on fantasy football stuff. Is there really any difference? I think not.

It'd be one thing if they just thought I was lame for my gaming/music obsession, but one friend in particular almost takes pity on me for it. Like, "Man, we gotta get you some new hobbies and get you out of the house. You spend too much money on this stuff and they're not healthy hobbies." Dude, you spent $80 on an Ohio State jersey and God knows how much money on football tickets every year. Fuck off >_<

That's my youngest daughter exactly. She can eat fries and chips and stuff but mashed potatoes "make her gag". Don't get it.

                  Oh, I get that.

But there are different levels of texture for mashed potatoes.

Some are the same consistency as applesauce, some are overly grainy, and some have semi-solid chunks of potato in them and are closer to the consistency of potato salad.

If a person doesn't like creamy mashed potatoes but likes applesauce, it could be a matter of texture and temperature combined.

I hate getting heckled period, and I hate having to over explain myself further than just saying "I don't care for" or "I'm not going to do" or "I don't plan on" or "I'd really rather not" (fill in the blanks with whatever).

I mean, it makes me feel like I'm being cross examined at trial. Over not liking garden fresh green beans. Or stupid chick flicks with groups of girls.

I agree. I'm not about to stand and listen to someone nitpick and criticize me for being myself and doing what I do. Usually that's where I start to get hateful and sarcastic with those critics. It's kind of a running joke that I have no friends because I don't like anyone. I have friends, but a lot of times I really don't like many people.

I like carrots, but if possible, I would like to have them cooked. Raw carrots can wreak havoc on the stomach, even after extensive chewing.

I'm the same way with corn dogs. I like cornbread, and I like hot dogs, but I don't like the way the flavors combine in a corn dog. But try explaining it to other people: they Just Don't Get It.

I thought I was the only one. For me, mashed spuds are just blah. They feel yuck in the mouth and taste like nothing. I think it doesn't help that my dad loves them and we used to have to eat everything that was dished up.

Not sure what tater tots are though. Can someone explain?

I will not eat peas, corn, brocolly, sprouts or pumpkin. Just yuck.

I eat ham on pizza, but I will not eat it any other way. But I will eat any kind of bacon except smoked.

MY mashed potatoes are yummy and full of flavor, just sayin'

Tater tots are like hash browns kinda, but are more solid and shaped in little balls. And typically they are deep fried like fries would be.
