This week it's mostly the office doing the mistakes but some of the complaints are from our customers and as I packed the job I am seen as the one who failed to pack the item on their list.
One driver came back saying he had no pureed meals on his delivery so I go to the next days sheet and write on the ammount as extras and see that this sheet has none, show it to the supervisor to say
"Hey, if they complain again, they have none on the picking ticket, so either it's not every day or my sheet and the drivers invoice are different." and I had just gotten over a very costly mistake due to the whole my sheet their sheet.
Lo driver comes back with shortages, I ask for the driver copy of the invoice and it is on there and I photocopy it and the master copy picking ticket to leave with the office staff for the morning. I also show it to the driver and basically say "Not my fault."
Not on ticket not in the delivery.
I had a similar incident about a week ago, same product different customer, normally they have 12 daily (6 of each) but once they had just 6 of one, I sent just those 6, I could have taken the iniciative and given them 'free food' as they may have canceled it (which they had it transpires, by accident) or just gone Not on ticket, not in the delivery, I'm not psychic you know.
So a supervisor who feilded the call says I made a mistake, then later I remember it being blank on the form and lo the master copy confirms it.
I'm in the clear, someone else fucked up.
Now the costly mistake of the week.
I was asked Saturday if I could do all day sunday (05:00-22:30 don't ask too much fucked up, used to be 11:00-19:30 topps at one point for the late pickers) I come in and find I have to do one of the drops that should have been done last night, why?
Well it was done, but done wrong, how?
We normally run a two week cycle, but some customers have 4, so when we are on 1 they could be on 3, but I do not know who is on the 4 week system and which week IS the 3 or 4.
This could have been fixed the night before by comparing it against the invoice, an epipheny the supervisor had over the night and came in first thing to give me the invoice to pick from (and get in my way fretting about it causing me to be slower at it and to miss of one item cos of his being over my shoulder).
I then find myself short of 60+ boxes, had to raid a similar ammount from the frozen stock or get someone to make up replacements, basically it cost us 120+ worth of stock, 60+ that had vanished (I think I know how but never looked into it*) and then the 60+ I either took from frozen stock or had to get remade and after packing from the invoice for the broken drop I did in the morning, but this time the new delivery one as that one didnt match either, I found out how much some of the things cost our suppliers, that one alone was £250ish (don't know the cost to make though).
*I was asked how I could have so much short and nothing much over, if I was down product A shouldnt I have perhaps the same ammount of product B over.
One would think, but without checking 1/3 sheets, perhaps on week 1 which we sent, they wanted 2 boxes but on 3 they wanted 1 or 1 large one small or just small.
I've sugested an overhaul of the sheet roll call, it should be marked as week 1-4 and those that are 3/4 (which is marked on the picking sheet) should also be marked on the form, so if we are on week 3 and the few that have that system come up as 1, we know at 11am what is fucked and it can be fixed (and if day one is wrong day 2-7 will be too).
Also why am I always down little things?
Because you take a fax order, write +1 on the sheet, but never enter extra into the system for it to be made.
Master order says 105 boxes of product A, we make 105, but due to this addition we actually need 109 and you know what, it's always things we never have frozen stock of.
So when I say I am down 4 boxes, they cannot find the miss match in the masters as they ordered 105 and we made 105
Well I'm on holiday now kinda
Doing 5 hours tomorrow (hopefully not even that) before they open the camp site for the Folk Festival down here in Cambridge, they wanted the whole 8 hours, but I said just the drops so I can actually get set up at my usual area or get someone else in, the stuff to do after the drops anyone can be thrown at as its just time killer for the 6am guy.
Also said I'm comming in at 5 just so I can get gone quicker.
