If we weren't meant to eat animals, then why do they taste so good? XD
Also, Mythbusters proved to some extent that plants can feel pain; they hooked a plant up to a machine and tortured it. Also; link to a German study, where they concluded that plants have a nervous system of sorts.

That animal is killed whether or not I eat it, I feed it to my dogs, I throw it away, or if the butcher throws it away because no one bought it.
That animal is killed so that its other parts can be sold off to other manufacturers to make clothing, soap, toothpaste, makeup or whatever else they can make out of it.Some People Are Alive Only Because It's Illegal To Kill Them.

Ultimately, our system is set up that life must consume life in order to keep living. Drawing a distinction between animal and plant matter seems a little silly, from where I sit. No matter how you slice it, you're denying some other life form the ability to live in order for you to continue functioning. It doesn't really matter whether you're eating a fruit, an egg, a potato, or a cornish game hen - a life was either damaged, ended, or prevented in the process.
Such is the Circle of Life, eh?

Glue. A bunch of different animal byproducts go into glue.
Like what they use to hold fine cabinets together. Or as a treatment agent for canvases to be used for oil paintings.
And for the people who eat fish but not other meats, there is a type of culinary "glue" that is partly procured from animal blood used to hold things together, such as imitation crab meat and fish balls. Turns out that some fishy goodness isn't nearly as non-mammalian as the label would lead one to believe.
And that doesn't even get into gelatin, such as dessert gelatin, capsule coatings, and marshmallows...

*sigh* I get really tired of the militant vegetarian view on things. It's all part of the food chain. We eat animals, who eat other animals, who eat other animals who eat bugs.
I like vegetarian meals but I also like my meat. We're supposed to eat everything.https://www.youtube.com/user/HedgeTV
