It seems like there are some people on the Internet who have to come on certain threads and say how they dislike that certain thing or that they wish that thing would just go away. So if you don't like something much, why comment on it? Just ignore it,.

People Who Post on a Thread About Something they Dislike

Well for instance, I am a photographer for a blog that covers Eastern Michigan U sports and every so often there will be someone who will come in and say how they hate Eastern MIchigan sports. Or they will say how that money could be better spent for education (I don't disagree with that notion) instead of a football team. I mean, if you don't like something, don't bother with it.

I know exactly what you're talking about. It's one of my pet peeves too, and it happens all the time in gaming forums. People start talking about, say, a new Steam feature, and someone comes in to rant about Steam, calling it a ripoff or worse. they don't care about the new feature, they just want to sound off about the thing they hate, where they know they'll be heard by others.
I understand disliking something, but it makes no sense to me to spend so much time and energy focusing on something you hate, when it's something you can simply ignore, and don't have to deal with at all. Why not just go expend that energy on something you do enjoy?

Oh yeah I understand you. It happens a lot on the Internet. Why? Because it makes someone feel better, I suppose, that they can try and insult people and there will be no consequences.
It's annoying, and especially confusing when I go on Facebook to check out my favorite (for example) actor's posts and I see a rant about how that actor is stupid or something. It's honestly just a way for immature people to feel empowered because they're typing on a keyboard and there's no threat to them at all.
I figure the best thing is to just ignore them. If they really cared about what they were raging about they'd go out and DO something about it, rather than just ranting about it.

What he's ranting about is people who just post generally vague statements such as "I disagree" without actually providing reasons why, it's irrelevant to the topic at hand, or doesn't provide enough fuel for a reasonable debate.

This sort of thing especially makes me rage when the article touches some controversial or nutty subject in such a tangent you have to be standing in one corner of the topic and look through the Hubble Telescope to see it. Examples:
#1: Article about Ellen Degeneres' new pet.
Comment: "I really wish Ellen would see God and know that she's going to hell."
#2: Article about some new movie with Tom Hanks.
Comment: "Forrest Gump was such a right-wing propaganda movie."
#3: Article about someone with a life threatening illness, with the mother quoted as saying, "Keep him in your thoughts and prayers."
Comment: "Someone should tell that mother that God isn't real and shouldn't ask people to pray to some invisible unicorn up in the sky."
#4: Same article as #2
Comment: "Tom Hanks shouldn't have propagated the lies Americans told people about us going to the moon. Everyone knows it was filmed in some soundstage on Mars."
These sorts of things are especially apparent on YouTube. I'm always amazed at how often some video about, say, a cat nursing some cute little kittens somehow prompts a 90-page flamewar over abortion, religion, the death penalty, or whatever else underneath.
I guess some of these are trolls, but I feel as though many times these are just people who really want to throw their 2 cents in about something that is so barely on topic it isn't worth mentioning.

Yeah, I hate that too; appears a lot on fanfiction and fan art. I've had deranged idiots post crap on my fanfic before; as far as I'm concerned, they're deleted and blocked.
Let me get this clear; construction criticism and useful suggestions are perfectly fine with me. As is comments on the story and pointing out civilly on how it could be made better. But moronic spamming, rude comments cuz you disagree with a certain pairing and vile abuse directed at me, just cuz you hate the pairing depicted? Put bluntly, go and play in traffic. Seeing as it was made perfectly clear in the title as to which pairing I was writing about, it would be far more intelligent to just not read it, as opposed to posting a spiteful comment about how much you hate it."Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."

Hah - just dealt with this on FB.
Someone posted a link about a bridge owner with a monopoly for road traffic between the US and Canadaland fighting a second bridge that would kill his profits. Immediately we're all commies, fags, and satanists from someone who has been down this road many times before.
What larks!

As a side note, the guy in question also owns the train station that's like the goto building to show the decay in Detroit.

Aye, but according to this guy we're unamerican (true in my case) and satanist fags (not necessarily true) because he's telling the truth and stuff.
Nothing to do with the subject. We ... became unkind.

Although I've actually read some fanfiction of pairings I didn't like and ended up loving the story...of course, I didn't leave a review bitching about the pairing for no reason."And I won't say "Woe is me"/As I disappear into the sea/'Cause I'm in good company/As we're all going together"

Exactly. I've read some Harry/Hermione stories that, while I didn't like the pairing, were well written and a joy to read. I may not like the pairing, but if I post a comment, it'll be about how well the story is, not "I don't like that pairing so you suck". -.-"Oh wow, I can't believe how stupid I used to be and you still are."
