I almost put this in the lonely skeptic thread, but I figured it merited it's own topic.
I hate the implication that if you're skeptical of religion, mythology, supernatural, or any out there theory, you're closed minded. As if not believing everything someone says is a bad thing. I know some people can be caught in their ways and stubborn for change (even when hearing convincing arguements from opposing sides), but just because another side of the arguement is brought up does not mean that it's right.
That's why I hated anthropology. They take this "open minded" thing to scary extremes, often justifying the barbaric ways of other cultures. "Oh but it's not barbaric" BULLSHIT!! Human sacrifice is barbaric. Just because they had reasons that may have made sense in the context of the culture does not make it any less batshit insane.
It's fine being open to ideas, but there is a such thing as being so open minded your brains fall out.
