  • Nudity Hypocrisy

So the most recent ex and I are....trying to patch things up.....and we rented Forgetting Sarah Marshall last Friday night.

Anyone who hasn't seen it.....or maybe this wasn't in theaters.....but there is some full frontal male nudity....yup, weiner and all in its glory...

I don't want to spoil the movie, but within the first few minutes you see it.

Anyway, bf freaked. "I don't want to see a movie with some fucking guy's DICK in it!" and since there were a few more scenes with the dick and balls, he had to make a disgusting and non necessary comment about how WRONG it is to have male nudity in non porn movies.

Ok fucknut.....there are lots of movies with female nudity....mostly just boobs, but some butts and vajayjays....and that's FINE. I mean, guys like him LOVE that stuff...but the second there's a dick involved....oh the world is over!

The same thing happened when we watched 28 Days Later, in the scene where the main character wakes up naked in the hospital.

OH MY GOD..it's just a DICK. Big deal. If you men get to see endless titties in most R rated movies out these days, shut the fuck up about one or two movies with a dick in it.

    That is all!

The male form is just not a pleasant sight to look at. Doesn't matter if you are a guy or a girl. It's just...ugh.

I take it the patching didn't go as expected then??

yeah - I don't see what the problem is. It's just a piece of flesh. sounds like ex has a few issues that need dealing with.....

Ah, the 'last chicken in the shop' look. Can't see the appeal in viewing it, but I don't go around objecting like that. He's ... not protesting too much is he?

Well, (I am only arguing here for the sake of it, someone needs to! )

The penis is a primary sexual characteristic whereas buttocks and breasts are secondary.

When you say the vagina is on display I'm asuming it's not in an open leg 'hey guys get an eyeful of this' as it is (so I've been told ) in porn.

Perhaps it's just his morals that are offended...?

I'll agree that a penis is the equivalent of a vagina, not breasts, but there's been enough full frontal female nudity in Hollywood movies that the point falls a little flat. For someone to bitch about seeing one gender naked but not the other is hypocritical. Not that one has to enjoy looking at a naked person, especially not if they're the wrong gender, but there's nothing inherently disgusting about it. But even if you don't like to look, there's no call to spoil the movie for anyone else. Keep your opinions to yourself until after the movie's over.

I take it you're a lesbian, then? I don't find anything ugh about the male form, myself. I find men's bodies to be just as attractive than women's, and not only in a sexual way. Humans are beautiful creatures.

Not quite the same thing, but has anyone here watched Dancing with the Stars? My friend is addicted. Every single woman, even the judge and the 82-year-old contestant, bares more skin than a two-year-old in a mud puddle, while the men are clothed from wrist to neck. So far I've seen one man with his shirt open to the waist, while I've yet to see a single woman in an outfit I could wear in public. If it was equal across the genders I could write it off as aesthetic appeal of the human form, but to put the men in tuxedos and the women in clingwrap? It's just sleazy.

A lesbian trapped in a guy's body maybe.

Seriously though, overall, eh, fine, I'll let you get away with calling a guy's body hot. But a guy's junk is not a pretty sight to eye no matter what.

Neither is the vagina. If anything, the penis should be seen more often since it is more prominant. Why the double standard on film-makers' parts?

I for one am thrilled with any movie that treats nudity as a cinematic device, to be included when it advances the plot and left out when it distracts from it. The nudity of a male character doesn't bother me any more than the nudity of a female character.

Since the vagina is internal, it is much less noticeable. A penis...well...it's just hanging there and everyone will definitely see it. A vagina is missable.

Pretty much my point. Logically, there should be plenty of dicks, and plenty of boobs, and vaginas if you squint. Full frontal nudity will expose the pubic hair on a woman and not much else unless she's doing some pretty energetic acrobatics. So why is that Hollywood goes out of its way to show naked women but not naked men?

In most human cultures a visible penis is a sign of aggression.
Simple symbols for penises are used as insults: middle finger, fist thrust, pelvic thrust at someone, etc.
There are no equvilent insults for vaginas.

I find men, even myself somewhat, to be disgusting, hairy, smelly, ape-humans. But I don't care if some movie has visible penises. I watch movies with ugly people.

One interesting fact: Usually when an actor's boobs/penis/whatever is revealed on screen - it's a double. Especially a celebrity with a "no-nudity" clause in their contract. For example, Bruce Willis took off his pants for a movie. I can't remember the name, but I've seen the scene in question and well...it was, um, impressive. But it was, if you'll forgive the term, a stunt penis. Not Bruce Willis.

As long as it's not distracting and tells the story, nudity doesn't bother me at all.

Oh, and there are plenty of women (not including myself, of course. ) *ahem* who see a penis and think, "oooo, playtime!". I mean, they aren't the prettiest things in the world but they ARE fun.

Ah, and there is a play called Take Me Out that is set in a baseball team's locker room. There is a shower scene, in which the entire cast disrobes. Entirely. Then there's The Full Monty and Naked Boys Singing. Seems like there's more male nudity in the theatre than in film...

That's assuming she has pubic hear. A lot of women shave these days.

And that's my point, a woman's vagina is hidden for the most part. So if it's hidden, then the guys should be hidden too.

He could tuck? It's not like the actress is being coy if she's standing up and naked but you still can't see her clearly. Why make a big deal out of it? Why not just have the actors of both sexes run through the scene naked instead of using silly camera shots on the men but not the women.
