FOR CONTINUING TO GIVE MY DOG BRAND NEW CHEW TOYS!!!

Both times it was delivery from Barnes and Noble.


The first time, it was a Zelda music book that UPS handed to USPS because after a few misdeliveries to other houses in the neighborhood, they just started giving all my packages to them.

The postal driver left all of our mail that day on our porch. Which happened to be a day we were at the hospital all day. So we came back to confetti. USPS claimed no liability; thank God for Barnes and Noble being understanding.

We've now told the Post Office to leave notes in our box for us to pick up packages. Which they've been doing.

But today's order was delivered via UPS! Who can't seem to make up their minds as to whether they can find our house or not! And can't seem to knock on a damn door

Kabe thinks he heard the truck, but our neighbors get a lot of traffic, so he ignored it. So package gets left on the porch, and Midna (our loveable, ever chewing pup) gets a Pathfinder GameMastery guide as a new chew toy!

Barnes and Noble (God, I love their customer service) is shipping me a new one. And I'm about to get on the phone with UPS. But dear Lord! It's obvious we have a dog, why are you leaving things on the porch? Even on the railing would get it out of her way!

Could do what one of my customers does... A BIG rubber tote that is kept closed by bungee ropes.

So you're asking them to somehow know, without ever having met your dog, that it chews things?

I personally have had exactly one dog that ever chewed anything, out of around 15 dogs(different breeds/ages/sizes etc.). If I was your driver I would have no clue I was doing anything wrong, because I don't expect dogs to misbehave like that. I've also never known any of my friend's dogs to chew things, so that adds maybe another 50 dogs.

Our yard is a mess of scrap from everything she's chewed apart.

My bigger issue is the fact that THEY DIDN'T KNOCK. And they NEVER knock.

They just walk up, put the package against the door, and walk away. (We've actually watched them by just happening to walk outside as they delivered.)

Dog or no dog (dog just makes it worse), this isn't proper delivery. I wouldn't even care if they wanted to drop the package, knock, and the walk away. Notify us somehow that you have made the delivery!

For the record, she's also chewed the corners off of all the railings on the porch, and has removed ground-level branches from trees and bushes around the house. If she can get her mouth around it, she destroys it.

But yeah, bigger issue is they make no attempt to contact us when delivering. They just drop it on the porch and GTFO.

I was going to suggest some sort of crate, but the rubber tote sounds good too. It doesn't fix the lack of knocking, of course, but it would keep your stuff safe from the dog, and really, the other shouldn't be nearly as annoying when the consequences are trivial.

They have no reason to assume that the dog doesn't chew things, and its in their own best interests to assume the worst of any animal, both for the safety of their own people, and the welfare of the package.

As a delivery driver (pizza) I always assume the dog will be aggressive. Except that massive mastiff who might knock me over because she is super loving. Fact... as soon as I get close she sits so hard I feel the earth shake. Owners told me she LOVES pizza.

Chewing is part of the reason we get all of our non-standard mail delivered to work.

The chewing part is out of any delivery drivers control, but YES the failure to even knock and just abandon packages is the main issue, dogs out back but has access to front and a package is just dumped you could go half hour without either you or the dog finding it, or worse someone passing thinking hmm amazon box might be worth something.

One of the UK couriers did that to guy upstairs with his package of new HDD and ram, just left it on the front door step no knocking or anything I live right above the door and can pop my head out, I heard nothing unless I was out or had headphones on.
He found it coming in from work.

I've had delivery drivers stick the "sorry we missed you" tags on my door without any attempt at delivery. With our screen shut but the front door open. >_<

The best, though, was one day when the UPS driver did that, then the FedEx driver did that, then came back with another delivery and actually delivered that one. How does that even work? The best part is that the FedEx delivery was two parts of the same shipment.

I called both and the person on the other end at FedEx was mightily upset because not only could they see the attempt, but apparently the guy managed to not mark the one that was actually delivered as having been delivered, so according to their system, it was back in their warehouse. They're lucky I'm honest.

Heard the post flip through the letter box bout an hour ago and heard next door talking to postie (well only heard his half or the tail end of it)
Sounded like either what was just delivered might be 'fragile' or a previous one and she might have been complaining that it got damaged in the fall, as most UK letterboxes are 3 feet up in the door.

"It fit through the letter box so I posted it" I heard.
Now if the package wasn't marked as fragile or sent as courier or needing a signature, then postie is in the right, it fits in the letter box no need to knock on the door.
And even if it was marked fragile, the failure to prevent damages lies with the company or individual shipping said item if not going for courier options, as 99.9999% of UK household letterboxes are around the same height off the ground and a weighty object is not going to just drift down like a feather unharmed be it from a letter box or falling off a table.

As someone that used to work for UPS, I can tell you this is because they have strict guideline restrictions on EVERYTHING, especially how they relate to time. For instance, their keys stay in their hand at all times so they don't have to fish for them in their pockets. Unless it requires a signature, they're looking to shave time where they can. So it's drop and go.

I've been having an issue with UPS and FedEx lately. Both can't decide if they're going to try and leave it on my doorstep, on my side porch, if they're going to try again tomorrow, or hand it off to my local post office. What really gets me aggro about it is I have the same fracking driver every time.

Oh, I logged into UPS to check up on a shipment from our TN site recently, and it popped up a new service they're starting called UPS My Choice.

If it works anything like they're saying it's supposed to, I think a lot of people are going to be much happier with their UPS deliveries.

Wow...

They used to offer everything included in this new "My Choice" free, except for rescheduled deliveries, in the name of great customer service.

It doesn't cost UPS anything to have someone else sign for a package, leave it on your porch, or have you pick it up from their Hub.

Drivers drive the same exact route every day, so if your UPS guy gets there at 11am one day, you can expect him there at 11am every time he's there to deliver something. If you need it at 4pm, you'd have to pay for the special trip.
