  • "Sharing" my photos on Facebook

I will admit that I love Facebook. However, I have an issue with people being able to 'share' photos that I post, since I keep my settings locked down to where things that I put on there are only seen by people I want to see it. The "Share this" feature seems to be a way around this. I don't really care if it's a well known/public photo or link, like a George Takei thing, but I have one person who is continuously sharing the PERSONAL pictures of my dogs that I put up. Like dude, those are MY dogs, my parents' dogs. The sandwich that I MADE sitting in my lap, which is covered in MY pajamas, that the dogs are all humorously staring at. There's no way anyone who has been my FB friend or known me in person for any short length of time could NOT know that they are my dogs. MY truck interior with the peacock seat and steering wheel covers. How socially inept does someone have to be to think it's ok to just hit that share button and blast this to the rest of the world? Granted, I'd be more upset if it were photos of people, but still. I've put the person on restricted access for now so I don't cause drama. How can anyone think that this is OK?

Unless you've told them not to, why would they NOT think it's OK?

Unfortunately, the truth is that anything out on the Internet is pretty much going to be distributed, no matter the wishes of the owner of said material.

Also, I don't think anyone other than you has any idea of what your share levels are set to, so unless you told them not to, they'd likely be unaware you didn't want the images shared with others. I can't be certain on this, however, as I rarely use Facebook these days, and even so, I only post images that I have no qualms letting out in the wild for mass consumption.

I realize there's nothing legally preventing them from doing so, it's just ... uncomfortable, maybe? Why would you even want to share another person's personal photos? It's a social faux pass of the highest level.

My sister is one of those people who likes to share anything she likes or finds cute, including pics of family and friends. She also likes to post scanned copies of old photos, because of course everyone in the world wants to see them (not really). I've specifically told her on multiple occasions that I do NOT like being discussed on FB and I refuse to be tagged in anything. She's gotten better about it, but she still slips sometimes and I almost have to get nasty about it before being taken seriously. *sigh*
