  • i.. hate.. moving.

this is gonna be semi ranty, and i apologize, but gorram i HATE moving!!!!

for reasons i can't really get into, my hubs and i have to find a new home. it's not our choice, but we are trying to make the best of it. and while the issues of us being first time homeowners (we technically rent current house), learning all the crap etc does suck, it's not the part driving me crazy.
what is driving me crazy is having to pack everything back into boxes. some of which we only just unpacked in the winter/spring. it's depressing as fuck and we just got started. and we're nerds. we have a TON of crap to pack up.
i guess the benefit is at least we're good at it, from packing up the apartment when we moved to this house. we've already packed 30 boxes or so. but it suuuuuuuuucks. i don't wanna move

seems like a kinda trivial rant, but i'm all emotional and shit.

Moving sucks, no matter the reason.

Having to figure out how to pack your life away with some semblance of reason and then have to unpack it all again on the other end is tiresome and draining and... after two years, most of our stuff is still in boxes in the garage. >_<

      You have my sympathies.

Luckily I own my house. Lock stock and barrel. Nothing to pay but utilities and taxes.

Been there, going back to that. What I've found helping for the organization is to take pictures of the room and then put a picture on that box. Takes a little bit more time but makes unpacking a bit easier.

        Also totes, I love totes.

totes are awesome, and we have all our holiday stuff in them.
for now we're just writing what room the box came from on the top, and an inventory list on the side of what's in it (plates, vases, etc). although the closets are getting reeeallly full from stacking stuff in them.
the original plan was for this to be our "forever home" but shit happens. i can explain better once things are more settled, but am not really supposed to right now.

We also wrote on two sides as well as the tops. It helped a little.

We go to the office supply store and get bankers boxes. Nice handles, stack nicely and small enough that if filled to the brim with papers or books, or canned goods you won't get a hernia trying to move it

When Rob got rotated up to the sub base here in CT from NOB in Norfolk VA we rented a house with the intent to buy it from the guy he more or less swapped jobs with. Unfortunately 2 months into the buy process we got informed that there was absolutely no way the place would pass the inspection for any loan company, so we had 30 days to find, pack and move into a new place. Thankfully Rob was just into his shore rotation so we didn't have to worry about having to do all that with him going out to sea randomly. [Slow attack subs like 688Is don't always do the out for 6 months making holes in the water, they do a lot of small out for a week or so, back in for a few days, back out again stuff with one or 2 long cruises a year. Much better, though sometimes more stressful to make plans around in the long term. I much preferred the Spadefish and the 5 and 6 month cruises once a year.]

signs up, so now i can rant a bit better.
basically, my parents own a farm. we built our home on the farm, under the farm name as a tenant building. the intent was for us to inherit the house and surrounding acerage.
but, too many bad crops in too many years in a row, and my parents can't keep up with it anymore, so they are selling off the farm, and unfortunatly that includes our home.
so we found out monday night. and today the sign went up. it's all happening fast so far.
                sigh.

it will if it sells quickly lol.

we were joking last night about how it would be funny if another local farmer buys it. see, he hires guys from mexico, jamaica, wherever. we have no problem with it, the guys are awesome. but one of our more "special" neighbors reeeeeallly doesn't like the idea of seasonal workers living nearby. so of course dad is hoping that's what happens since it would be hilarious. she's be hemmed in on two sides (one of the other farmhouses is beside, we're across the street)
                    muhahahahahaha

The jackass next to us knowingly bought in a farming area and still complained about the sheep. So we went and bought a couple dozen baby guinea fowls.

They make a seriously godawful sound, people think peach faced conures sound nice compared to them. And of course, they like getting up at dawn just like most other poultry.

We made sure their feeding station is right next to the property line on their side of the property.

we had a dentist move away after living here for one summer. he didnt seem to clue in that working farm = really pretty trees, and loooooots of early morning tractor sounds. tried to tell my mum off for it to. she just rolled here eyes and told him "this is a business, we do what we need to do for our business." and reminded him that HE moved HERE.

My brother is looking for a new gaff too, he told me yesterday he's being evicted, not due to anything he's done like late or back rent (as his guarantor I would be made aware of this and fill in the gaps) or anything damaging, it's just that he's been there 2 years and the lease was for 2 and it doesn't look like they are inclined to renew.

When I signed the guarantor form I had to do it in person, they would not post or fax it, so I had to take time off work and spend £80 on a return rail ticket, did they take money off the bill for my inconvenience? did they fuck
Hell I joked about this fact at work prior leaving stating that I should at least get a blow job out of it and someone over heard it and thought I was discussing actual prostitution and named a few brothels I could visit whilst oop norf.

                          edit:

You rented a flat above a nightclub and are complaining about the noise?
