  • Facebook Baby Cutesy-ness

One of my Facebook friends (a former co-worker) is pregnant and keeps posting stuff like, "The baby wants me to eat >insert disgusting combination of foods here<" or "The baby says, 'It's time to sit down. Let's eat lunch mommy!'".

I know it's petty but it annoys the piss out of me. Her baby is not saying or wanting her to do anything! It is a fetus and not capable of conscious thought! And for God's sake I wish she'd stop eating everything that can't outrun her, take it from someone who nearly ate herself into gestational diabetes (to be fair, I don't know her eating habits, but every other post is about what she is eating/planning to eat/desires to eat. When I was pregnant I went into "I'm pregnant, I can eat whatever I want for once" mode- which is a complete untruth, by the way-, and gained 65 pounds which was not good for either my son or myself). Her baby does not WANT her to eat anything. It does not WANT her to do anything. It is a living creature but not exactly able to voice its opinion, which it doesn't have anyway.

I am thrilled she is pregnant because I know she's had a rough time with getting that way, but I wish she'd stop being so cutesy, it's annoying as hell. None of my other pregnant friends have done this.

Actually, it's quite possible that the system that is creating the baby actually does want her to eat specific things, although saying it's the baby itself, as a consciousness, is just silly.

But I hear you about the over-excitement some people descend into when they get into a certain mindset. Considering that I have an interest in babies that trends into the negatives, it takes only a very little bit of that before I'm hiding the person's feed. >_>

Faith is about what you do. It's about aspiring to be better and nobler and kinder than you are. It's about making sacrifices for the good of others. - Dresden
