    edit:
I will admit freely that I could not, nor do I care that I can not, say which is a noun pronoun verb adverb adjective or any other term for a word....
I am speaking specifically of the difference between the choice of "me" vs "I," not the order in which the words in a compound phrase are used. As to that, the personal pronoun (I/me) will always come at the end of the phrase.

it makes it read like secretly is something like a pair of binoculars yet people think the split infinitive is wrong because it's a split infinitive, I cant even read it in my head without getting a mild pain.
That is one incredibly ambiguous and awkward way of phrasing it.

If you wanted to be more correct (because split infinitives are more about style than absolute rules), then you could use either of the following:
Secretly, she used to admire him.
She used to admire him secretly.

One would certainly hope that anyone who was so stylistically rigid that they would refuse to split an infinitive would have better sense to go the route suggested by whoever it was you were quoting. Because, honestly, their example is horrid.

I used my friend and I as that one you cited as being wrong or not to your liking, yet the sites linked said otherwise, yes the site and your post listed a few options that were wrong going by the I last rule.
I just got the "my friends and I is wrong" vibe from one of your recent posts.

I was going to edit a similar phrase after reading the latest edit I had made and found I had not offered a less broken example
