  • Yeah, I'm slandering and condoning rape - and tone deaf (longish).

On my youtube page I have a series of vlogs (video blogs) that deals with certain subjects.

Of course, I was seen as "just another guy that rants about shit," so most of them got deleted after a short time. Seems like people don't like to hear someone's opinion on things.

Lately, I started to get a "who the fuck cares" mentality and post them anyway.

The first of the vlogs was a video version of something that I posted here a while back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKoYr68Srvg. That one wasn't really commented one.

I recently put up 2 vlogs, one is a revival of a vlog I had a long time ago and the other was on 2 things I needed to clarify from other vlogs.

The revival was on PETA and NOW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F54QZfej0hw. I originally deleted it because I listened to someone who said I could get in trouble because I am using their logos.

This one is clearing up a myth about posting music and clearing an argument about my "other" videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TumL5uBSrU

No less than 24 hours, I got a couple of messages about the vlogs. I'm not going to name names, but these messages left me hot.

First, is the PETA and NOW video:

"First off, what you are doing IS slander. You're saying stuff that can be proven to be false and you're doing something to purposely damage their reputation...."

That did not compare to this, though:

"....What you are doing by saying 'If a cute girl goes to a star athlete's hotel room at 2AM she's not looking to discuss his touchdown passes, she's looking to get laid' is basically saying 'she's asking for it' and condoning rape...."

    And it continued:

...."Guys like you are the reason why many women who are raped don't come forward, they think people will assume she is lying about it."

I can take a lot of stuff but being accused of condoning a violent crime is something that I cannot tolerate! I made this response to the person:

"In regard to accusing me of slandering NOW, first they have to prove what I said was completely false and not an opinion. While I did "quote" some of the content, why lie about it? Second, in order to have a legit slander case NOW would have to prove my vlog caused them a loss of some sort. Being only a few people have seen this vlog, I doubt that is the case. As for the rape thing, what you wrote is basically selectively hearing what you want to hear. I said in my vlog, when a girl says no, it means NO. I would never advocate a man to force himself on a woman. Good thing you posted this is a private message and not a public comment, because I could report you to Youtube for libel."

Next, was the message about the music myth and video content vlog. It was the same person who sent this message as the last one:

"While I agree with you about the music part, I take issue with your other part. I recognize that straight men will (as you say it) do a "sex by eyeball" thing when they see a girl they are attracted to, you go as far as saying that anything a woman does has some sort of sexual context to it. I doubt a secretary answering phones is doing it because she wants to make guys jump her bones when they see her doing her job. It's actually very sexist."

    My response:

"Well, it appears that you have latched on to this video as well. I never said 'anything a woman does has a sexual context to it.' I merely said that a man will look at a woman he's attracted to and think what she is doing is sexy. Then again, what is viewed as sexy by one man may be viewed as 'meh' by another. How is that sexist?"

Oh, here is a link to another vlog I did. It discusses modern musical artists I actually do like and why they should be more famous than they are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3hw-iYUztQ

This is a message I got in response to it, it is more funny and stupid then anything and that's probably why the author didn't post it as a public comment:

"Hey, just saw your modern artist blog. A couple of things I want to tell you. The major labels market to young people the most because they are the ones that are buying the most music. It makes sense from a marketing standpoint.

The other thing is the type of music those artists you listed perform. I checked out some as many of them I'm not familiar with. I am a blues fan and do like some of the "retro rock" stuff, but how many 16 year old girls (again, part of the demographic that buys the biggest chunk of music) will listen to it? Sad, but music like that has a limited audience and that's why major labels don't want to dump a ton of money into something that is going to have little return on investment. That's why many of those artists are on indie labels and play in clubs.

The biggest issue I have with your video is your cheap shot against Mariah Carey. I really think you might be a little tone deaf if you "have to mute the TV" when you hear her sing. And I doubt her success is due to her bust size, sure she is busty but I seriously don't think millions of people bought her CDs to look at her chest.

I did enjoy your shot at the Jonas brothers, but once again young people like them and to the music industry that's all that matters.

I'm not trying to bash you and while I did like your vlog (not to mention led me to some cool artists), next time do some research before you make statements."

    Yeah OK fangirl....

Sorry if this is long but I needed to vent.

All I have to say about that is that you maybe oughtn't take things that YouTube posters say too terribly seriously. They are not the most intelligent, deep thinking online community out there.

Sure, there are intelligent posters there, but they are so buried under a tidal wave of profound idiots and trolls that it brings the average WAAAAY down.

    Don't take it personally.

Hey thanks, in all reality most of the time I just let it slide off my back but when someone PM's me saying I am condoning a violent crime it just gets me pissed.

Most of the time if there's a stupid comment left on my videos I just either delete it, or write a snarky response back.

              LOL!

Here's another stupid comment I got one day, this time at work, upon hearing that my babe montages feature almost entirely UK glamour models: "Why don't you do a montage that features AMERICAN models, show some love for your own country!"

To which I said, "Why? 90% of American models are skinny wenches that look like they're going to fall over and die any minute from lack of nourishment! I like women who are healthy and have curves, sorry."

After all, once you get a glimpse of women like Lucy Pinder, Cassey Batchelor or Michelle Marsh you never wanna go back!
