  • Computer Programs

So it's come down to my last college semester. One of my final courses I have to take is a statistics course (linear regression). I can handle the math part, but it requires installing some program. I consider myself computer savvy enough with the basics, but every time I have to install some program like this, something always goes wrong, and this time is no exception. The installation guide is pages long, but even if it wasn't, it still wouldn't install because I need 300 billion other programs just to get it installed. I even tried using it in class. All I needed to do was print some information, but my cheap ass college charges for printing and requires some card.

Combined with the fact that I have been sick multiple times this semester and have missed quite a bit of classes, this has not been a good year for me. I just hope my professor gives me an extension on the assignments I already missed because flunking me when I'm this close to graduation would be a dick move.

    That all sucks.

But if all you need is the document, couldn't you save it to a file and then email or thumb drive the file back home and do the print there?

I would have been able to, but

      1. They changed the email to make it much more difficult to attach things (you need to specify that it's a document and not an image you want to send but doing that requires clicking some button that's nowhere to be seen).

      2. We were being rushed out. Some other douchebag professor wanted us out (and I say douchebag because there are no classes at 10 o clock at night).

So it was just a sucky situation all around. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong.

And this brings up another thing I hate (and hopefully won't have to experience this time), rigid professors. The ones who are so hardass about due dates that they'd flunk a student for turning it in ten minutes too late (I had one who actually bragged about flunking students for that, what a bitch!). The ones who won't even give partial credit for late assignments, even when there could be a good reason for turning it in late. So if you fall behind and miss a few weeks, no matter how much effort you put into the rest of the semester, you're likely screwed, all because some professor has a bug up their ass.

To piggyback off of this, is it possible for you to export your information to a PDF?

If you have a personal email like GMail or Hotmail, why not just use that to email it to yourself? I've done that plenty of times.

Well I got it installed so it shouldn't be much of a problem now (unless my professor decides to be a pain in the ass and flunk me for not getting it done sooner).
