One summer, many years ago while I was still a struggling student, I needed a little extra help to make it through the semester, so I applied for food stamps. I was told that I would have to quit school AND get pregnant before I'd be eligible. I said that neither of those was an option for me. I made it through the semester without quitting school or getting pregnant, but I did have to get a bit creative in order to be able to eat and pay rent that summer. I think the statute of limitations has expired...

The difference of what the Doctor wants to charge and gets paid is called an insurance right off. Basically it accounting scam to pay less tax due to being able to claim a loss of work.
