  • Ok, I'm here.

It was suggested in a thread I was in that the discussion be taken here to avoid conflict. So here I am.

I live in California, I'm 36 years old, and I work in retail sales in the family gift shop. I've never been really good at writing introductions, so if you'd like to know any more about me, just ask.

Are you male or female? I always want to know with gender-neutral member names like yours.

    Oh...one more thing...

Not an easy question to answer actually.

Physically, I was born male. However over the years I've been mistake for a woman a number of times on line. I've been told that it was becuase I don't think like a typical male. So in all truth, I'd say my mind is somewhere in between, just like my screen name.

Lol. I get the opposite problem; female, but mistaken for male online. No idea why, unless it's the ambiguous username. XD Welcome!

I suppose it's because I was raised in a very bizarre way....I actually, truely, whole-heartedly believe in Gender Equality. Being that my dad worked most all the time, he left before I woke up in the morning, and for most of my young life he came home well after I went to sleep owing to a long daily commute on top of an 8 hour work day. So it was left to my mom to raise me. And she always taught me that Men and Women were equal and should be treated as such.

So I never tend to place any emphasis on a person's gender when I'm talking with them or dealing with them. It matter more to me if they are knowledgable, intelligent, creative and innovative. When I first got online access to talk to people, first in the form of local BBS message boards, and then on the Internet in general, there was often no way to tell without asking someone if they were male or female. So I spend a goodly part of my childhood with gender not being an issue for me. So I honestly don't tend to think in terms of "I'm talking with a guy" or "I'm talking with a girl." For me it's always been "I'm talking with another person."

I guess that kind of neutrality just comes through in my speech patterns.

Just had a thought that I should post for everyone:

I will never intentionally try to piss anyone off. If we're talking about something and I state my opinion on the subject, be assured that I'm not just saying something to make you angry....it's because based on my life experiences and research, that's what I honestly think about it. If you find my thoughts offensive, well, that's yer problem. If you feel I'm incorrect, please feel free to explain your position and due me the courtesy of presenting supporting evidence or research as to WHY and HOW you arrived at your conclusions. Who knows, you might've found something I wasn't away of that has a bearing on the subject.

I'll post more things about myself here if I think it might help people to know me better.
