Actors You Think Are Overrated

Katherine Heigl needs her very own category. It would seem to me that considering what a lot of her former movie co-stars say about her, she's not a very nice person to work with or be around.

I've always loved Reese. And she's on all the covers of Avon. I think she has real natural beauty (of course she's wearing makeup, but she's not stiff and waxxy looking like Angelina) and her body isn't all redone and fake looking. She's always been real genuine to me, which is something I judge women by really harshly. I can't stand fake women or bitches.

I love Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman. Can't stand Angelina Jolie (missed watching The Tourist even though it had Johnny Depp - whom I love - because I didn't want to contribute to Angelina's wallet). Katherine Heigl is meh. Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Garner are more than meh.

Ryan Reynolds went from being in Van Wilder to being cast as an iconic comic book character. I'm not impressed with the casting. Then again, I disagree with the castings of Thor and Captain America.

What does everyone think of Edward Norton?

He was utterly badass in that movie. I'm a big fan of him.

Ryan Reynolds is pretty good. Great jobs in Van Wilder, Waiting, and X-Men: Wolverine.

I already spoke about Heath and the fact I can only name two films of his in the other thread, but my introduction to him was after his death and all the kerfuffle about how great he was an actor, how much of the Joker was his performance and how much the script?

The script is the guide that the performers use to develop their performance. Some actors can follow the script and never really become the character.

Tommy Lee Jones only plays one character. Tommy Lee Jones. I like him, but in damn near everything he's been in he is the same person.

There are a number of actors and actresses like that.

And here's an example of how a bad script was still overshadowed by the actor playing the role. The Avengers. I will grant you that they made the poor fucker give one of the stupidest lines of his career (and he has a few in the James Bond Series) when they made Sean Connery utter "Rain or shine, it's all mine"

A movie with poor direction and a poor script, and Sean Connery still gave us as good of a performance as the script and direction would allow.

In the case of the Joker, Heath Ledger took the script and immersed himself into the role. The screen presence of him as the Joker is one that is not likely to be surpassed any time soon.

I do agree that he is getting a little overblown after his death and is being put into fandom saint-hood when he may or may not really deserve it, but his performance was still something worth seeing. He even out shined the Bruce Wayne/Alfred banter and interplay which is usually a highlight of a really good Batman offering.
