  • I swear my state just get worse over time

    General point:
Gay Applebees employee is brutally attacked outside a Perkins in Rice Lake WI by the husband of a fellow Applebees employee.

    http://www.wisconsingazette.com/wisc...publicity.html

The gay employee is basically told he is fired/terminated because of the publicity surrounding the incident.

Can not type much more such outrage.

I always do my best to give people the benefit of the doubt, and think that, well... They might just be getting things wrong, and that they can be reasoned with.

    But...

I can not find, in good conscience, any sort of way to have someone BEATEN UP and then FIRE them for it.

I saw where they had changed their minds and given him his old job back but he didn't really want to take it. Not that I blame him. From the sounds of it, the company was treating him pretty poorly prior to this.

According to the link in the OP, he put in his notice because he was getting verbally abused, but then asked to stay on and was denied because of the incident. Then the CEO stepped in and said to rehire him, but he plans on leaving because a derogatory post was left on their Facebook page and another co-worker's husband has threatened to kill him.

There's a lot going on in this story. I wonder how much of it we don't know yet.

There was also indication that maybe something more was going on at the party than what the victim said happened.

I'll admit that the restaurant was in the wrong here for trying to terminate the victim on such a flimsy reason (if the caller about the party is to be believed, he had potentially a poor attitude at work, which is a much stronger reason), but as to the attack itself...I'm really curious as to what happened at that party.

The more I hear about Applebees, the less I ever want to eat there.
Seriously, their marketing department needs to have a sit with their HR department and have a talk about how not to make the company look like they are run by massive tools.

At this point, aren't there like, five or six franchised chains like Papa Johns and Applebees that all need to have a sit down with someone to slap them into being less stupid?

Yeah, except with Papa Johns, I can't even get upset about the stunts they pull because I already don't like them for serving pizza that tastes like cardboard

That is the city I was born and grew up in.

They're all a tad older than me, but I somewhat know of who the attacker and his wife are.

I am glad this is not one of the Applebees that my company owns.

                      Hey, hey, hey

I've tasted some lovely cardboard over the years.

Andara and I don't frequent Applebee's, because the last time we ate at one, the food was just plain bad, and the service wasn't much better.

I've only eaten at one maybe twice, the most recent at least five years ago. Standard restaurant-style burger and steak fries, neither bad nor something thay would have been different at any numbr of other places.
