    UK not Australia.

In Australia, if you are a suicide risk, you aren't sent home until you're medicated or you have a follow up appointment with a doctor (and you keep it). I ended up having a home visit from a social worker at one point (not as scary as it sounds, they just wanted to do a risk assessment on me and also asked me what I wanted from them)

The first time I went to a hospital with a Timmie's I thought I'd died and gone to heaven. REALLY not the best feeling when you are in an ER.... >_>

If it weren't for the ER people and the police both stating she needed psychiatric help, I would be concerned she didn't properly explain herself. I have had friend with psychiatric conditions who took a long time to diagnose because they either weren't explaining themselves right, or the intake nurse/psychiatrist/social worker didn't ask the right questions.
