  • Stupid Arguement

When arguing about why you think a certain rule or law is bullshit, there will always be someone who will bring up laws against murder, rape, and other heinous things that no one in their right mind would agree is right. Seriously, something like a weed offense is not the same as killing someone. Mkay?

Of course it's not the same thing, but depending on the conversation, a parallel might possibly be relevant.
"My in-laws are country people and at night you can hear their distinctive howl."

What I hate are the "rules are rules" crowd, who will defend any rule no matter how outdated or asinine, because hey, rules are rules!

Yup, some rules are meant to be broken. It might be wise to follow it for practical reasons (especially if we're talking about laws), but that doesn't mean people who break the rules should be vilified just because they broke some arbitrary rule.

I also hate hearing "lobby for a change if you don't like said rule or law". Sometimes civil disobedience is the best way to get a point across. It's not the most practical solution, but hey lobbying for a change isn't either so if people want to try civil disobedience, I say have at it.
